Justin Forsett, Bernard Pierce, Lorenzo Taliaferro's Post-Week 7 Fantasy Outlook

Rob GoldbergOct 19, 2014

The Baltimore Ravens backfield has frustrated fantasy owners all season, and the team's Week 7 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons was no different.

Justin Forsett, Bernard Pierce and Lorenzo Taliaferro have each attempted to fill in the void left by Ray Rice, although it now seems Forsett has the starting job going forward. He got the majority of carries and is clearly the most explosive player on the team.

Here is a breakdown of how each player finished in Week 7:

Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com notes how the running back's big-play ability gives the team a dimension it did not have:

Unfortunately, the one area where Forsett is limited is his size at 5'8", 197 pounds. This is why the team went in a different direction at the goal line, as explained by Michael Fabiano of NFL.com:

Pierce has the size and strength advantage and can use his 6'0", 230-pound frame to force his way into the end zone on short-yardage plays.

Although this limits Forsett's fantasy value for the rest of the year, he is still clearly the running back you would want on the Ravens. He will rack up plenty of yards each week on the ground and through the air, and he will certainly get into the end zone on long runs.

However, it seems fantasy owners will continue being disappointed whenever Baltimore gets near the goal line.

Meanwhile, Pierce might steal some touchdowns but that should not be enough to trust him in your lineup except for in the deepest of leagues.

While Taliaferro seemed to have some value earlier in the year, he no longer has a major role in the offense. The rookie is still learning and could be a quality option in keeper leagues, but it would take an injury for him to be useful this season. Feel free to drop the running back if you need roster space.
