Positives

  • Tremendous physical specimen. Will test very well in the pre-draft process, is extremely athletic with good size
  • Very smooth movement. Changes direction and speeds effortlessly, freezing would-be tacklers
  • Good burst and speed, explodes once he finds daylight. Shows outstanding acceleration and big-gain capability
  • Fairly elusive with good lateral and stop-start agility. Demonstrates the ability to make defenders miss in the hole and in the open field
  • Slippery runner can make himself skinny without breaking stride
  • Jukes defenders and occasionally utilizes a stiff-arm to help him create space
  • Can really hurt opponents if he gets around the edge, a handful outside the tackles. Possesses nimble feet to tightrope the sideline and stop or cut on a dime
  • Displays vision in the open field to find cutback lanes
  • Is at his best when he is running decisively, can gain chunks of yardage in the blink of an eye
  • Runs fairly low to the ground, generally demonstrating good pad level
  • Very little wear on his tires. Less than 300 touches during his college career
  • Has a high ceiling, dynamic player with an exciting skill set and plenty of untapped potential
  • Made the most out of opportunities at Baylor, averaging over seven yards per carry

Negatives

  • Has a finesse running style. Not a powerful or punishing runner
  • Was very rarely utilized in the passing game, had nine total receptions during his college career and zero as a junior
  • Too often runs east-west and sacrifices yardage. Has a tendency to bounce outside
  • Not a very effective runner between the tackles. Has trouble when the hole does not exist and lacks the power or physicality to grind out the tough yards
  • Dances in the backfield and is too hesitant at times
  • Average balance. Does not break many tackles and goes down too easily, often on first contact
  • Not a very good blocker at this point, lacking functional strength and pass protection technique. Does not sustain blocks
  • Will need to be groomed into a full-time role and is destined for a committee as a rookie. Ability to block and catch the ball out of the backfield is necessary to earn consistent playing time in the NFL
  • Occasionally turns his back on contact, rather than lower his shoulder and keep his feet moving
  • Ineffective short-yardage runner who does not push the pile
  • Missed two games last season due to a groin injury

Overall

An incredibly smooth and athletic runner, Lache Seastrunk has a chance to be a dynamic player at the next level. Lacking the power or rugged style of some NFL feature running backs, he may fit best in a committee with a bruising backfield partner. Though he was unable to show proficiency in the passing game at Baylor, he possesses considerable upside. A zone-blocking scheme may be able to utilize his burst and agility properly.
