Ok, I realize that this is my third article on Lane Kiffin, but his arrogant and ignorant mistakes keep on coming, and his behavior has gone from astonishing to absolutely amusing. The latest guffaw out of Kiffin's mouth was reported by ESPN and in the Silicon Valley Mercury News by John Ryan.
SEC coaches must be thrilled to have Kiffin in their conference since he keeps giving them bulletin board material to motivate their players. Kiffin quickly became and has been cementing his reputation as the SEC's clown.
While trying to recruit Alshon Jeffrey, a wide receiver who eventually signed with South Carolina, Kiffin spoke to Jeffrey and his high school coach, Walter Wilson, on a speaker phone. Always one to put his foot in his mouth and give other SEC teams plenty of bulletin board material, Kiffin told Jeffrey that if he signed with South Carolina that he would end up pumping gas for the rest of his life like all the other South Carolina players.
So, in addition to incorrectly accusing Florida's Urban Meyer of cheating, inaccurately belittling Georgia's recruiting efforts, and calling his own recruiting class inadequate in front of their families, Kiffin has now called out South Carolina's players as incompetent and uneducated.
One can only wonder how badly each of these schools will run up the score on Kiffin's poor team.
What's worse is that Kiffin's legal team is scheduled to take the deposition of Al Davis next week in preparation for an arbitration hearing to settle Kiffin's claim that the Raiders had no cause to fire him. Kiffin's very public guffaws and incredibly inept behavior are not helping his case.
The Raiders fired Kiffin for precisely this type of behavior. It's hard to argue they had no cause when Kiffin is in the news every week exhibiting that same behavior.
