Week 5 Fantasy Football Rankings: Top 50 Wideouts in Standard-Scoring Leagues

Here are my top 50 wide receivers for Week 5 (standard-scoring leagues).

This countdown simply identifies the weekend's best bets for catches, total yards, touchdowns and receiving targets—a stat that must always factor into lineup strategies with receivers, tight ends and running backs.

NOTE: The Lions, Buccaneers, Raiders and Cowboys have bye weeks.

When it comes to crafting a weekly listing of elite wide receivers, simply follow the trail of quarterbacks primed for Week 5 glory...or wideouts with great track records against middling pass defenses.

On the injury front, Greg Jennings (groin) shall remain off the list for now.

Quick Hitters

1. For his last three games, A.J. Green tallied 22 catches, 32 targets, 358 yards and three touchdowns. These stellar numbers come at a time when Cincinnati is developing a No. 2 receiver, a No. 2 running back and a No. 3 wideout on the fly. For the season, Green ranks among the top five in targets, catches, receiving yards and touchdowns.

2. Reggie Wayne (23 catches, 294 yards, one TD) shall remain a top-five weekly pick until another NFL defense can render him irrelevant during the Andrew Luck era. Leading up to Week 5, Wayne is the only wideout to boast 15-plus targets in two games and at least 70 receiving yards in every outing this season.

3. Danny Amendola likely won't replicate Brian Hartline's insane performance against Arizona (12 catches, 253 yards, one TD), but with the Cardinals having reduced prep time for Thursday's kickoff, I fully expect Amendola to notch double-digit targets and 100-plus yards on the Rams' lightning-fast home surface.

4. How good has Brandon Marshall been the last two seasons with the Bears and the Dolphins? Even after factoring in his two-catch, 24-yard clunker against Green Bay in Week 2, Marshall still boasts averages of five catches, 100 yards and 0.83 TDs in his last six road games.

5. If the Jets have any chance of beating the 4-0 Texans on Monday night, Jeremy Kerley needs to shine on the big stage. With Santonio Holmes out (foot injury) and Dustin Keller/Stephen Hill iffy with hamstring maladies, Kerley (197 yards, two TDs) would be in line for a substantial battlefield promotion.
