Andrew Luck: Colts Reportedly Inform Luck That He Is Their 1st-Round Pick

Clint EvansJun 7, 2018

Indianapolis Colts fans, it's time to get excited.

According to the always infamous "league source," the Indianapolis Colts told Andrew Luck weeks ago that he will be the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft.

ESPN's Adam Schefter first broke the news on Twitter. Here's the take-home snippet from ESPN's official article:

It's unclear precisely when the Colts informed Luck, but a league source said the team has known for weeks that Luck would be its pick. His style most closely resembles that of former Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, and he is the player Indianapolis wants to rebuild around, the source said.

"

This piece of news comes just 24 hours after Colts general manager Ryan Grigson made public that the organization had settled on the player they were selecting first overall "after exhausting the process."

I think it's interesting how information like this transforms from speculation and becomes a report. While only my personal belief, I think that, by looking at this isolated example, we can see how this process works a little bit.

1) General manager announces team has settled on first overall pick.

2) Adam Schefter starts getting in touch with a few of his dependable friends ("league sources") to see what he can learn.

3) Someone, likely with the team, tells Schefter that the Colts have been settled on Luck for a few weeks.

For Colts fans, it's time to sit back, relax and plan your NFL draft parties over the next week without the stress of any surprises being pulled. Your next quarterback is on his way to Indianapolis to begin a fresh new era. There's something very refreshing and exciting about that as a fan of the NFL.
