The NFL Draft draws closer and closer, which means it is time to see us expanding our mock drafts and predictions well into the second and third days.
To trade, or not to trade?
In most of my mocks, I prefer not to forecast trades, as they tend to be even more of a crapshoot than picking players for a mock.
Best player available, or pick by need?
The unpleasant truth about the NFL draft is that the concepts of "need" and "fit" guide about 80 percent of what happens in the round. All of my mock drafts pay a hefty portion of attention to those concepts of "need" and "fit," which defy the logic of a magical, all-knowing and correct Heavenly Draft Board being out there somewhere, that has the correct order of which every player available in the draft should be taken.
We've got a lot of picks to get through, so I won't slow you down with explanations of each and every pick. Most of my first-round picks are identical to previous mock drafts, which can be found here, here and here.
Let's take a look.
