The Tennessee Titans Ultimate 2012 Mock Draft
All week, I'll be doing an ultimate mock draft for each team in the AFC South. The goal is to come up with the best possible mix of realistic need-based picks for each team, assuming no trades.
The Tennessee Titans are on the clock today.
20th (first): Fletcher Cox, DL, Mississippi State
I covered Cox last week. What I like about him is his versatility. The Titans need pass-rushing help, and I think Cox would instantly upgrade their line.
52nd (second): Vinny Curry DE, Marshall
The Titans need pass-rushers. Have I mentioned that?
Curry would be a great pick at 52. He's a leader off the field, and would be a great addition to a line that was near the bottom of the NFL in sacks.
82nd (third): Brandon Mosley, OT, Auburn
Mosley is raw, but could end up becoming a beast on the Titans' offensive line. The team could play him at guard and see if he could eventually blossom into a tackle.
115th (fourth): Nick Toon, WR, Wisconsin
The Titans have a respectable receiving corp if Kenny Britt is healthy, but Toon could be a great compliment. He has impeccable blood lines and is a precise route-runner.
The Titans have some deep threat ability with Washington and Britt, so a non-burner who will be where he's supposed to be on 3rd down could be a major asset.
155th (fifth): Ryan Steed, CB, Furman
The Titans' secondary was outstanding in 2011, but it's always an area that needs more depth.
Furman isn't a big school, so Steed is the kind of player who could be overlooked. He's a physical corner who might just prove to be a late-round gem.
190th (sixth): Rishaw Johnson, G, California (PA)
He has a massive frame and some character questions, but should Johnson slip to the sixth round, the Titans couldn't possibly pass on the 6' 5" guard. If he adds a little muscle, he could become a savage lineman.
Johnson was dismissed from Ole' Miss, but in the sixth round, a team can afford to take a chance.
227th (seventh): Tim Benford, WR, Tennessee Tech
With their last pick, the Titans could do worse than scoop up an in-state talent.
The athletic wide receiver could be a nice fit, but the Titans may try to sign him as a UDFA, or look for a harder-to-sign talent in the seventh round.
