2012 NFL Draft: Big Miami, Cleveland, Seattle Presence at Ryan Tannehill Pro Day

Sigmund BloomMar 29, 2012

Veteran NFL beat writer Charean Williams from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram is in attendance at Texas A&M QB Ryan Tannehill's pro day and her reports about who else is there may shed some light on Tannehill's current draft stock.

Williams' Twitter feedĀ looks likeĀ a who's who of teams that need quarterbacks:

"

Pete Carroll here as well as Jeff Ireland and Brad Childress.

Clyde Christensen is here from the Colts. Surprising?

Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell is here too.

Dolphins sent head coach Joe Philbin. Miami contingent had dinner with him last night. And no, Mike Sherman is not here.

Browns QBs coach Mark Whipple is here among Cleveland's contingent.

Let's review:Ā

Miami: They are the favorite to take Tannehill at No. 8, partially because of his relationship with current Dolphins offensive coordinator and former Texas A&M coach Mike Sherman, which Williams alluded to. Given that the general manager and head coach were in attendance and the Dolphins contingent had dinner with Tannehill, there is no reason to move them from the top spot.

Cleveland: No general manager or head coach, but an offensive coordinator (Childress) and QB coach instead. Tom Heckert and Pat Shurmur are instead at Trent Richardson's pro day in Alabama. If we take this at face value, we have to assume that Tannehill is only a candidate for Cleveland at No. 22 or in a trade-up from No. 22 if he falls into the teens.

Seattle: A head coach and offensive coordinator in attendance sends a strong message. The Seahawks did just commit $10 million guaranteed to Matt Flynn, but he is far from a sure thing. Tannehill could be an excellent "best player available" pick for Seattle at No. 12 if he gets past Miami.Ā

Indianapolis: What if we trade down from the No. 1 spot if a team offers us their next three entire drafts? Just in case, you know.

ESPN's Josina Anderson also passes this along:

"

Crowd for Tannehill's pro day includes Pete Carroll, Joe Philbin, Brad Childress & reps for t/ Broncos, Bills, Browns, Chiefs, & t/ Saints.

"

Denver: Tannehill would be an excellent understudy to Peyton Manning.

Buffalo: If Ryan Fitzpatrick's rib injury wasn't the main explanation for his fall off last year, they could be a dark horse team at No. 10.

Kansas City: As a team that is not sold on current starter Matt Cassel, you expect to see GM Scott Pioli or at least offensive coordinator Brian Daboll with the Chiefs holding the No. 11 pick. Their odds of taking Tannehill, however, are going down.

New Orleans: A message to Drew Brees?
