Matt Flynn Rumors: Browns Need to Act Fast to Acquire Packers' Backup QB
One game was all it took to make Packers' backup quarterback Matt Flynn arguably the second most desired signal-caller this offseason. With that said, the Browns, who are reportedly interested in him, better get going on signing him before the frenzy begins.
In a way, Peyton Manning and Flynn are joined at the hip this offseason. Manning was released by the Colts earlier this week and Flynn was not given the franchise tag by the Packers, making him a free agent.
The Browns are reeling after losing out to the Redskins for the trade that would have given them the No. 2 overall pick and the perceived rights to draft Robert Griffin III at April's NFL draft.

The next option for Cleveland would be to acquire Flynn, who played in one game last season. The Browns are reportedly interested in the Packers' backup quarterback.
However, with Manning supposedly choosing his team next week, the Browns better get going with signing Flynn because when Manning signs somewhere, the losing teams still in need of a quarterback will target Flynn as their next option.
In the same way, Flynn would be wise to hold out on signing with a team until after Manning decides. That way Flynn is fought over by several teams in need of a quarterback.
With the Browns perceived to be the only team interested at the moment, although the Seahawks and Dolphins are set to come calling soon, Cleveland should take advantage.
Flynn is supposedly set at being offered more than $40 million on a multi-year deal once he signs this offseason. He would cost more than Griffin III would by being the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL draft, but the Browns can now save a slew of draft picks, which the Redskins were happy to give away for the potential franchise quarterback.
The best-case scenario is for the Browns to sign Flynn this week. However, things do not work like that, which would appear to be the case in this situation. Cleveland will most likely be fighting for Flynn once Manning chooses his team to play with.
If the Browns were proactive and serious about getting themselves a franchise quarterback that Aaron Rodgers said is a "top-15 quarterback in the NFL," they would make Flynn an offer immediately.
