Peyton Manning Rumors: Legendary QB Must Avoid Seattle Seahawks

Jun 7, 2018

The Indianapolis Colts are just a few weeks from deciding on whether to cut Peyton Manning or not, and tensions are high. Nothing is certain at this point.

The only thing that has become clear is that Manning should never consider playing football is Seattle. Not that the Seahawks are a bad franchise, but he won’t win with them and that’s the only reason he would come back.

With the clock ticking on the future Hall of Famer’s career, there is no reason for the four-time league MVP to risk playing on a mediocre team. Plenty of winning teams will take the chance.

With that said, Dan Pompei from the National Football Post is reporting about the possible interest from Seattle in Manning and what it brings to the table that’s unique:

"

Based on the buzz around the league, the Seahawks could be the early frontrunner for Peyton Manning, assuming he is released. Pete Carroll needs a quarterback and is believed to have a strong interest in at least exploring Manning. The Seahawks could offer Manning an attractive scenario. They have a young team with some fine skill players to put around him. They play in one of the league’s loudest stadiums. Manning wouldn’t be subject to the same kind of scrutiny in Seattle that he would in a lot of other markets. The Seahawks also could have a better feel for Manning’s medical situation than some teams. One of their team physicians, Stan Herring, who also is one of the country’s preeminent specialists for spine injuries. Herring is a member of the NFL’s Head, Neck and Spine Committee.

"

All of that sounds amazing on paper, and it almost makes Seattle seem like a viable option for the injured QB. Too bad it’s not true.

I don’t see the talent he would be surrounded by and even think he would have a more difficult time in Seattle behind its porous offensive line than he did in Indianapolis.

Add in a receiver corps filled with overrated stars and underachievers and you have a team begging for an 8-8 record. Manning has betters options and needs to exercise them.

With almost every team in the NFL sure to kick tires on the star, he is financially stable enough to have free reign over which team he actually chooses. You know whomever it ends up being will be the best spot for him to get healthy and finish his career winning.

That’s all the QB ever wanted from the NFL—to win.
