NFL Combine 2012: Andrew Luck Has Nothing To Gain by Throwing
The Indianapolis Colts know that no matter what happens with Peyton Manning, they are going to take Stanford Cardinal quarterback Andrew Luck No. 1 overall in the 2012 NFL draft.
That’s why he won’t be at the scouting combine this season.
With owner Jim Irsay saying the whole time that he would not hesitate to take a star like Luck No. 1, the biggest questions have been about Manning and not Luck.

With all of the certainty there, the Colts have made it clear that they will be taking the young player by telling him to skip the NFL scouting combine and just have his pro day.
Indy Star columnist Bob Kravitz is reporting about Luck’s combine and pro day schedule:
"Andrew Luck was willing to throw for teams (Colts) at the combine, but was told by teams (Colts) just to throw at pro day March 22.
"
There is no doubt that Luck would have dominated the NFL combine, but there is a chance that he wouldn’t live up to those high expectations under those circumstances. Indianapolis doesn’t want the world to see anything negative, so they won’t even take the chance.
Allowing Luck to concentrate on his pro day will show the league that Luck knows what he is getting into and that he is taking it seriously.
Luck can have his pro day with receivers he likes in a place that makes him feel comfortable and look as good as any college quarterback coming into the league could ever look.
There is no reason to chance a fault being exposed if the Colts are sure they will take him. This is just the right thing to do if you’re Luck or the Indianapolis Colts.
