If Nike Made Uniforms Like These, the NFL Would Be Better Off
Reebok is currently the main provider for the uniforms in the NFL. But has anybody in the NFL seen what Nike is doing to jerseys in college football?
Well, Nike takes over for Reebok next season, and it's a safe bet that changes are on the horizon.
According to The Chicago Tribune (via Yahoo Sports), these following NFL uniform ideas were credited to Nike in a hoax.
However, it would not be a shock to anyone if Nike made uniforms similar to these, as the company will be in charge of NFL uniforms next year.
With uniforms like these, the NFL game could become faster, cooler and more appealing to the everyday fan. With that in mind, it's worth a look to start thinking about what NFL jerseys could be like in 2012 and beyond.
Arizona Cardinals
1 of 32Though the Cardinals already have a black uniform, the black helmet is what sets this uniform apart.
The bird wings on the side of the pants and shoulder pants could mean that the Cardinals fly high. Or if they don't, at least they'll look good.
Atlanta Falcons
2 of 32Hello flashback from the past and hello look into the future.
The red helmets are a nod to the past when the 'Dirty Birds from Atlanta' used to wear red helmets.
But sticking with the same logo on the helmet is what makes it cool in the future.
The uniform is quite plain, just black and red, but the look of it all put together is nice. Maybe it could help Matt Ryan and the Falcons win a playoff game.
Baltimore Ravens
3 of 32The Baltimore Ravens are about the only team that could make purple look good.
I like the white helmet with the purple facemask, and what is Ravens football without the black?
The black on the jerseys makes a statement to the NFL that, "Yeah we might wear purple...but we can still beat you."
Buffalo Bills
4 of 32O say can you see? This uniform makes me think of the American flag and the fact that it has a Buffalo just chilling there in the middle is weird.
I usually like Nike Pro Combat jerseys, but this one is my least favorite.
Carolina Panthers
5 of 32Could you imagine Cam Newton in all black?
This uniform is stylish and sleek, something that fans in Carolina could actually root for.
Chicago Bears
6 of 32Bear down Chicago Bears. Instead of looking like an NFL team, they look like a team from Division III football that doesn't have enough money to afford a logo on the helmet.
Jay Cutler is not going to look good taking a billion sacks a game in this attire.
Cincinatti Bengals
7 of 32The sweet part about this uniforms in that in both the helmet and uniform, the Bengal is actually on it.
The sweetest part is definitely the helmet. I like the Bengal look.
Cleveland Browns
8 of 32I don't even know what to say.
Nothing is changed on this uniform. The guy wearing the uniform is definitely not a Browns players; he looks too good.
And the Browns go back to the same boring old orange color helmet.
Dallas Cowboys
9 of 32Now that's what I am talking about! Stop sticking to the old white with blue stripes on the sleeves and get something more modern.
The Cowboys have had the same uniform since I was born in 1993. And it looks boring.
They got a huge up-to-date stadium, now it's time for them to finally get an up-to-date look.
Denver Broncos
10 of 32Yes, yes, yes.
Could you imagine Tebow in that sleek looking Florida Gator-esque uniform? Maybe this would bring back his winning ways from Florida as well.
The helmet is the perfect rendition of old school.
Detroit Lions
11 of 32You go from Honolulu blue to this?
Baby blue is not a style Detroit is looking for.
I know that they wanted to have a uniform that is the same color of tears that they cry, but come on!
Don't make it so obvious that you're not good.
Green Bay Packers
12 of 32There is not much change to these uniforms, which I kinda like because the Packers are a classy organization. No need for flash.
Houston Texans
13 of 32Not a big fan of the uniform itself because I think the uni's they wear right now are pretty sweet.
However, the helmet is the sweetest touch to this uniform. The white helmet is simply amazing with the logo of the Houston Texans.
Indianapolis Colts
14 of 32Again, nothing much has really changed.
And besides, seeing Peyton Manning (if he stays in Indy) in a flashy uniform would just look, well, odd.
There is not much you can do with plain colors such as blue and white and the letter "U" as your logo...and yes, I know that the "U" is a horse shoe.
Jacksonville Jaguars
15 of 32I think these jerseys may actually be able to glow in the dark.
By the looks of the logo on the helmet, I think it can.
Kansas City Chiefs
16 of 32Is this the Kansas City Chiefs or the Washington Redskins?
I can't tell the difference just based on the helmet design. Should of just kept the old helmet, to help people like me remember what team you are.
Miami Dolphins
17 of 32An orange helmet that finally looks good! (Sorry Cleveland Browns.)
The Dolphins got it right by getting rid of most of the teal, but standing out the orange.
Make an all-orange uniform and it will look, "Awesome," with a capital "A."
Minnesota Vikings
18 of 32Oh my...
Purple and yellow should never be mixed in a uniform ever again!
Adrian Peterson would not play in these and neither would the rest of the team.
New England Patriots
19 of 32NO!
The Patriot theme is cool and I like it, but it looks like they are rubbing it in the face of America.
The New England Patriots are patriotic, how about you?
They could probably run their own campaign for the 2012 election.
New Orleans Saints
20 of 32Don't really see much change from the uniforms they have now.
I know that the gold is now of the top of the black shoulder pad, but that's nothing too interesting for me to talk about.
New York Giants
21 of 32I like the "Big Blue" effect, but I feel like there needs to be something done to it.
The New York Giants are at their best when they have some sort of red color on I feel.
Make this uniform all red with a blue helmet and nothing will stop them.
New York Jets
22 of 32All hail the New York Jets for having the sweetest, coolest, best NFL team to watch on Sunday because of their uniforms.
Oakland Raiders
23 of 32Did anything really change on the uniform? No.
Does anybody really care? No.
Philadelphia Eagles
24 of 32I love my Ducks...oh wait, wrong team.
Sorry Eagles fans, but your team totally took a page out of the Oregon Duck playbook with the feathers on the shoulder pads.
It's not cool to steal.
Pittsburgh Steelers
25 of 32What did I just say about yellow on an NFL uniform?
Fortunately for the Steelers, the yellow goes with the black, but they overkilled it.
Get rid of the yellow helmet and pants.
And would somebody tell me what the hell blue and red have to do with Pittsburgh Steelers football?
San Diego Chargers
26 of 32I'm not the biggest fan of the yellow, obviously.
But these jerseys make up for the yellow. These uniforms just look electrically charged and I feel it's as if I would touch it and get zapped.
San Francisco 49ers
27 of 32Yellow, yellow and more yellow. I can not handle it.
And besides, aren't the 49ers' colors gold and maroon?
That would look a lot better!
Seattle Seahawks
28 of 32Not much has changed here except instead of that crazy lime green being on the sleeves, it just needs to be on the uniform.
All lime baby, channel your inner Oregon Duck!
St. Louis Rams
29 of 32Boring...yawn!
I think the NFL wants everybody to wear blue so they can represent their symbol as the No Fun League. Everybody is feeling blue.
And when did the gold leave the Rams?
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
30 of 32I'm a bigger fan of the other logo.
But thank you, Tampa Bay for getting rid of that gosh awful orange throwback jerseys.
Don't ever wear those again!
Tennessee Titans
31 of 32The baby blue works for the Titans.
And the helmet is awesome because of that random little fire thing from their logo.
It's a mystery jersey and I like it.
Washington Redskins
32 of 32Nothing has really changed except for the logo inside of the jersey.
Yes, that is pretty sweet in college basketball, but I don't want to see a stretched-out Indian head on an offensive lineman.
