NBA Trade Rumors: 15 Dream Scenarios for Andre Iguodala
It's no secret that Andre Iguodala is going to be one of the most sought after trade acquisitions in the NBA this offseason.
Iguodala has already been linked in a possible trade to the Los Angeles Lakers by Yahoo Sports and Si.com.
On top of moving to the western conference with Kobe Bryant, the 27-year-old has been mentioned in trade rumors to the Golden State Warriors and also part of a possible deal involving the Los Angeles Clippers and Chris Kaman, both according to ESPN.
With a potentially long-lasting lockout looming in the near future for the NBA and its consisting teams, a lot of franchises that were previously thought to be out of the loop could easily find their way back into the bidding for an athletic scorer following a new CBA.
For Iguodala, the future is bright.
He's still young enough to get even better than his near-All-Star form and has enough dedication and drive to win wherever he goes.
With that said, barring injuries or other players being dealt, here are the top 15 dream scenarios for Andre Iguodala and a trade out of Philadelphia.
15. Minnesota Timberwolves
1 of 15People are still trying to figure out how Kevin Love is so damn good.
But regardless of this scientific anomaly, Love, a newly drafted Derrick Williams, and a rookie point guard by the name of Ricky Rubio, are setting up Minnesota with one of the brightest futures in the NBA.
For those three players and those three players alone, Andre Iguodala would flourish with the Timberwolves.
They have enough cap room to sign him to a lengthy and worthwhile contract, possess a young core of scoring and potentially elite players, and wouldn't expect too much out of Iggy through the first few seasons.
14. Golden State Warriors
2 of 15The only way Golden State would be a dream scenario for Andre Iguodala is if the team's able to sign Iggy and still keep their star guard Monta Ellis.
Now considering Ellis has already been rumored in a trade involving the Philadelphia 76ers and a swap with Iggy, that scenario of them playing together is in fact a dream.
However, if the Warriors were able to move Dorell Wright and a big man like Andris Biedrins in order to acquire Iguodala, there's no way the 76ers star could complain about playing alongside Ellis and Stephen Curry.
That team would be unbelievably athletic and I truly think that Iguodala would love to play in a great basketball city like Golden State.
13. Cleveland Cavaliers
3 of 15With a new point guard in Kyrie Irving and a new power forward in Tristan Thompson, the Cleveland Cavaliers are a very attractive place to play.
Now don't get me wrong, the Cavs are going to struggle to put fans in stands and consistently win games, but with a great player's owner in Dan Gilbert and a solid rookie class, Andre Iguodala could marvel in the opportunity to play where LeBron James once roamed.
Iggy wouldn't have too many expectations from his coaching staff and fans to carry the team into the playoffs, but alongside Irving and Baron Davis, they could put up some serious points on a nightly basis.
The only problem with this dream scenario is the fact that Iguodala is almost 100 percent looking to play for a contending NBA franchise and, at this point, Cleveland doesn't fit the bill.
12. Los Angeles Clippers
4 of 15There really isn't much to say at this point for a tantalizing dream scenario in which Andre Iguodala goes to Los Angeles and plays aside Blake Griffin and Eric Gordon.
Simply, it'd be nuts.
Imagine that fast break. Iguodala to Griffin, Griffin back to Iguodala, Iggy throws it up to Blake for the slam-dunk.
For that reason only, an Iguodala to the Clippers scenario is a perfect fit.
And considering the 76er has already been linked to Los Angeles, his dreams may be coming true.
11. Memphis Grizzlies
5 of 15Not a lot of people realize that the Memphis Grizzlies made their astonishing playoff run this year without their star player in Rudy Gay.
With that said, along with the fact that O.J. Mayo is probable to leave town, can you imagine a scenario in which Gay and Andre Iguodala take the floor on the same team?
There's no doubt in my mind that Iggy would love to play alongside Gay and would embrace an energetic city like Memphis.
If the Grizzlies keep Marc Gasol and acquire Iguodala, they could be on their way to becoming the second coming of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
10. New Orleans Hornets
6 of 15What player wouldn't want to play on the same team as Chris Paul?
There aren't many, and even though I'm not a close friend of Andre Iguodala's, I can ensure you he isn't one of them.
With the eventual departure of David West, the New Orleans Hornets would be in line to acquire a replacement star for Paul, and what better option than a versatile, lock-down defender from Philadelphia?
New Orleans is a great city, Paul is arguably the best all-around point guard in the league, and Trevor Ariza could serve as Iguodala's bash brother.
What other scenario is more dreamy?
9. Portland Trail Blazers
7 of 15Portland is, and continues to be, one of the most enthusiastic fan bases around the league.
So, if you were Andre Iguodala, considering the Trail Blazers are fairly competitive in the western conference, moving across the country to play with Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldrige has to be atop your wish list.
Sure, the team recently traded for Gerald Wallace and have a solid scorer at the two spot in Wesley Matthews, but Portland would still benefit from acquiring Iggy and having him help out on the defensive end of the court.
Of course, he'd also add his 15 to 20 PPG.
8. Atlanta Hawks
8 of 15Kirk Hinrich, Joe Johnson, Andre Iguodala, Josh Smith and Al Horford.
That's what the the Atlanta Hawks starting five would look like if they acquired Iguodala and moved Horford to the five.
Realistically, this scenario isn't that far fetched.
Even if the Hawks decide to part ways with Josh Smith in order to get Iguodala, you can't go wrong with Iggy and Johnson playing for the same squad.
With a move to Atlanta, unlike most of the trade rumors involving Iguodala thus far, the 76er could stay in the east and have a chance to put a teetering team back in championship contention.
7. New York Knicks
9 of 15All decisions are made harder when you're involving a market like New York.
I realize there would be a massive amount of pressure on Andre Iguodala to instantly perform for the Knicks night in and night out, but considering he's been the face of a borderline franchise for the past five years, nothing's out of reach.
With that said, Iguodala would find much comfort in playing with fellow stars Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony, making Iggy the third wheel.
The question is, how would he fair as the "other" guy on the court?
It depends.
If Iguodala wants to win for an up and coming team and eventually receive a lengthy contract, New York may be his best bet.
6. Chicago Bulls
10 of 15Playing for Chicago may be the best chance for Andre Iguodala to stay in the eastern conference and make himself part of a winning franchise.
The Bulls are literally one player away from being perennial championship contenders, and if they added Iguodala to a team that already features Derek Rose and Carlos Boozer, I'd say they'd fill that need fairly quickly.
It has to be enticing for any NBA player to want to play for Michael Jordan's former team.
Iguodala has to realize that moving to the Bulls may be his best chance to instantly become a winner and, considering Chicago has already made it public that they're looking for a two guard, Iggy's dream could become reality.
5. Philadelphia 76ers
11 of 15I realize this list is consisting of trade scenarios in which Andre Iguodala leaves Philadelphia for a more successful or youthful team, but staying a 76er and making them a more consistent winner would in fact be a dream.
The only problem, Philadelphia needs to find a solution that makes Iggy's stay worthwhile.
Whether that's trading for Monta Ellis, O.J. Mayo, or any other significant scorer, it's yet to be seen.
Regardless, Iguodala has made Philadelphia his home for the last seven years, so if he has the chance to stay and team up with an outside presence, that's exactly what he could choose to do.
4. Oklahoma City Thunder
12 of 15The Oklahoma City Thunder proved last year that they're one player away from reaching the NBA Finals.
You can call them the Bulls of the west.
With that said, Iguodala would have to be thrilled to play alongside Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, who are two of the most explosive and elite options at their rightful positions.
Well, Durant is one of the best players in the world, but that's not what we're arguing here.
The fact remains that the Thunder need Iguodala and visa versa.
He'd combine James Harden's offense and Thabo Sefolosha's defense into one dominating force.
It's a long shot, but a move to Oklahoma could prove to be the best fit for a semi-young Iguodala and his explosive offensive play.
3. Dallas Mavericks
13 of 15If Andre Iguodala wants to become an NBA champion, what better of a place than the defending champs Dallas Mavericks?
There really isn't one.
Dallas would have to be one of the top teams in which Iguodala would love to play for and the team itself would more than welcome an elite defender and streaky scorer to an already well-rounded squad.
It's unclear if the Mavericks are going to re-sign either J.J. Barea, Caron Butler or DeShawn Stevenson, so the team is definitely in the mix to acquire Iguodala.
While it was a surprise in the way Dallas basically dominated the Miami Heat without their usual offensive consistency in the Finals, adding a player like Iguodala would make them instant favorites to come out of the west next season.
As for Iguodala, show him the trophy and watch him ask the 76ers to trade him to the wild wild west.
2. Los Angeles Lakers
14 of 15Well, this is a no-brainer.
Andre Iguodala would absolutely flourish alongside Kobe Bryant in Los Angeles.
The L.A. scene would greatly fit his personality, he could take over Shannon Brown's role as the Lakers' high flying acrobatic, and could easily launch the team back into NBA favoritism.
While Kobe still sits atop the basketball world throne, Iguodala could serve as his court jester.
There may not be a better place for Iggy to land this offseason.
1. Orlando Magic
15 of 15Well, here it is.
The Orlando Magic could definitely be the best dream scenario for Andre Iguodala.
He's a perfect fit for a dynamic duo with Dwight Howard and, considering Jason Richardson is on the fence in returning to the team next season, trading for Iguodala makes a whole lot of sense.
The only problem with moving to Florida and trying to survive the 100 degree weather, is whether or not management can guarantee Iggy that his presence and their efforts are going to be good enough to keep Howard around after next season.
Beyond those question marks, even though they're pretty big, Iguodala has to love the thought of taking a job with the Magic and their defensive capabilities.
