'So F--ked,' NFL GM Reacts to Aaron Donald's Rams Contract After Star Comes Out of Retirement

Aaron Donald is back for the Los Angeles Rams, and it doesn't seem like the rest of the NFL is thrilled about it.

"This is so f--ked," one general manager told NFL insider Jordan Schultz about the situation:

It was revealed Sunday that Donald is returning to the NFC West club, ending an offseason of speculation he would do just that. ESPN's Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter reported the future Hall of Famer agreed to a one-year, $20 million deal with playoff incentives that could make it worth up to $30 million.

And that means he will team up with Myles Garrett on the same defensive line.

Donald and Garrett are both legendary players who consistently draw double teams from opposing offensive lines. However, those lines will not be able to double both of them, which means at least one will always be in a favorable pass-rushing situation.

While Donald is 35 years old and hasn't played since 2023, his track record suggests he will still be effective.

After all, his resume includes a Super Bowl title, three Defensive Player of the Year awards, eight First-Team All-Pro nods and 10 Pro Bowl selections. He led the league with 20.5 sacks in 2018, which was one of six different seasons he finished with double-digit sacks from the defensive tackle position.

Then there is Garrett, who just set the single-season record with 23 sacks during the 2025 campaign.

Blocking both figures to be a nightmare for opponents, although the San Francisco 49ers may get some respite for their opener.

"I would say based on everything I've been told, a Week 2 or 3 debut looks more likely than Week 1," ESPN's Dan Graziano reported Tuesday on NFL Live when discussing Donald's timeline (0:34 mark).

Still, even San Francisco figures to have to deal with him when they face the Rams again in Week 14.
