New York Knicks and 8 Can't-Miss Games at the Garden
Let's be honest: New York Knicks tickets are overpriced. That's why many of us only have the opportunity to go when the bosses are out of town and send you that 3 pm email saying, "Hey, do you have plans tonight? Want to go to the Knicks VS. Bobcats game?"
We jump at the opportunity, of course. But what games should we (or you depending on your socio-economic status) really try to go to this year?
I've outlined the eight games left this season that could get so loud that they'll have to start construction all over again at the Garden.
And if you can't get tickets, be sure to go to one of the Knicks bars in the surrounding area for a taste of the excitement.
Tonight: Knicks vs. Sixers
1 of 8Tonight the Knicks take on the Sixers at 7:30 pm in what should be a nice matchup. The Sixers weren't a flashy team during the brief preseason.
The Sixers didn't pick up Tyson Chandler, CP3 Chris Paul, or any of the other high-profile players whose names were floating around. Yet, they're still off to a better start than the Knicks at 7-2.
Why? They have young talent who are playing well together. They have six players all averaging more than 10 points a game and they play really good defense. Opponents are only averaging 85.6 PPG.
Not bad for a team where the only household name is Elton Brand.
Kevin Durant and Oklahoma City Thunder
2 of 8My girl asked me who he was when she walked in the room and watched the game for a few minutes. I told her he's a freak of nature.
Kevin Durant, at 6'9'', can ball. He's quick, he's athletic and he has game. They're in a similar "Big Three"-type situation as the Knicks and will prove to be a great matchup.
Yup, let's see what happens when he faces the bigger Amar'e Stoudemire. Oh yeah, by the way, they have two other good players named Russell Westbrook and James Harden. It's a Big Three.
Dwight Howard and Orlando Magic
3 of 8If LeBron James leaving Cleveland was "The Decision" then Dwight Howard staying in Orlando was "The Indecision."
Nonetheless, he's a beast. It would be lovely to see is Howard and Tyson Chandler exchanging blows as the two battle it out in the Garden.
Kobe Byrant's Team
4 of 8So, they're not as good as they once were, but c'mon.
Aren't we still rival cities?
Haven't you heard? "I'm from LA," "Oh."
Kobe has adapted well into his new role. These are two of the biggest basketball towns in the country.
Dirk Nowitzki and Los Angeles Lakers
5 of 8Dirk Nowitzki and Kidd are getting old, but that didn't stop them last year. Like the Lakers, they're not a team of the now but a team of the past.
It will still be fun to see Tyson Chandler play his old team in New York.
We Talkin' 'Bout Practice?
6 of 8Rematch. Watch out for the Philadelphia 76ers. They're a team on the up and up.
The last good Philly team had Allan Iverson, who was known for saying, "We talkin' 'bout practice?"
This team has actually practiced. And they're playing good ball.
Howardagic? Dwight Howard and Orlando Magic
7 of 8Hello, rematch again.
Imagine if Dwight Howard makes a fool of Tyson Chandler? How do you think T.C. will react? Expect a major battle here in the eastern conference, late in the season.
Derrick Rose and Chicago Bulls
8 of 8Derrick Rose is about as much of a freak of nature as Kevin Durant. He's awkwardly sized and incredibly amazing.
CP3 might be on top of his game, but DR1 reinvents it. If CP3 is Windows 7, DR1 is a MacBook Pro: Creative, all knowing, and reliable like non other.
Excuse me, but when has a point guard alone led his team to greatness after a dark age?
