Rockstar Games Responds to Grand Theft Auto VI Gameplay Leaks Ahead of Extended Look Trailer

Rockstar Games released a statement Wednesday regarding the recent gameplay leaks for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI video game.

In the statement, Rockstar Games noted that while it has been "heartbreaking" for the development team to see gameplay get leaked before it was ready to be shown, everyone involved is still "very excited" about the extended look, which will drop Thursday at 3 p.m. ET on Netflix:

IGN's Wesley Yin-Poole reported Tuesday that 14 gameplay videos have been leaked, with the most recent ones featuring a nightclub, beach and video game store.

It has been 13 years since the release of Grand Theft Auto V, making GTA VI one of the most long-awaited video games in history.

Originally slated for a 2025 release, GTA VI was pushed back until May 26, 2026, and then again until Nov. 19, 2026.

The initial Grand Theft Auto VI trailer dropped back in December 2023, followed by a second official trailer in May 2025, offering gamers a glimpse into the next generation of one of the most popular video game franchises of all time:

While the trailers helped whet the appetites of those who have been waiting for a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series for well over a decade, the long wait time for the game's release left Rockstar susceptible to additional leaks.

Rockstar is close to the finish line now with GTA VI being less than three months away from dropping, and Thursday was meant to be the deepest dive into the game yet.

While certain aspects of Grand Theft Auto VI have been spoiled for some gamers who decided to check out the leaks, the extended look figures to represent the most Rockstar has shown off thus far in an official capacity.

The long wait will finally be over and GTA fans will get to see what the game has to offer firsthand on Nov. 19 when Grand Theft Auto VI officially drops on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
