Hines Ward and Batman?
That may sound like an odd combination to you, but check out the official movie trailer for the upcoming movie The Dark Knight Rises.
About halfway through the two-minute clip, they show a football stadium with one of the bad guys of the film (Bane) walking toward a generic football field. A few quick shots later and they show a football player wearing a yellow and black jersey running with the ball as the field essentially caves in behind him.
All of the other players on the field fall into this hole as No. 86 narrowly escapes. The camera gets a bit closer to reveal that the player is indeed Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward.
ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio reports that last summer several members of the Steelers and former coach Bill Cowher helped depict the Gotham City Rogues and that the filming took place at Heinz Field. I’d assume this football team will have some sort of relevance in the movie considering it was predominantly featured in the trailer. Then again, maybe the quicksand football field is just the coolest piece of special effects in the movie.
Ward has suddenly become one of the hottest athletes on your TV and movie screen. It wasn’t too long ago that Ward took home the title on Dancing with the Stars this past spring during the lockout.
That has to be the most random IMDB of all time, right?
DWTS is typically a bunch of C-list celebrities that would die to score one line in a movie like The Dark Knight Rises. Somehow Ward can put a reality TV show and what is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated movies of all time on his acting resume.
Do we have to call Ward a movie star now?
