Inside Scoop on the Girl Tim Tebow Went to See After Broncos' Loss to Patriots

Donald WoodDec 19, 2011

While many Tim Tebow haters want to imagine that his religious beliefs and moral compass are just an act, this isn’t a show for the Denver Broncos quarterback.

Just ask Kelly Faughnan.

Some may remember Faughnan as the woman Tebow brought to the 2009 College Football Awards after she had survived a brain tumor, but Tebow still goes out of his way to keep in contact.

As Jeff Darlington  of NFL.com was concluding his interview with Tebow and the media circus was all over, Tebow was seen embracing Faughnan for no other reason but pure love. It wasn’t a show or a gimmick; it was Tebow doing the right thing no matter what.

Tebow had just lost a heartbreaking game against the New England Patriots, yet was smiling ear to ear after seeing one of the people whose lives he has touched using his celebrity status.

Kelly Faughnan’s father told Darlington of Tebow’s impact on his daughter:

"

I can't begin to tell you the impact he's had on my daughter. She's very positive, and she tries so hard, but she's had a struggle. Tim Tebow has built her self-confidence up so much -- taught her to believe in herself -- that when I see people criticize him, I'm just dumbfounded. I don't get it. It's almost incomprehensible to me. I don't understand why anyone wouldn't want to see an athlete use his position and platform to do good for people.

"

Tebow had reached out to Faughnan again this time to make sure she was doing well and to show that he still had her back. This is a professional athlete we are talking about, a man that just lost the biggest game of his career, and instead of pouting or throwing a tantrum, he thanks God and proceeds to help motivate people.

I understand that he is not a conventional quarterback by the NFL standards, and he may never be an elite NFL player, but for people to attack him personally for carrying himself with dignity and respect is outrageous. His play on the field is fine to question, but we should all look to Tim Tebow to learn what human beings should really act like.

Take religion out of the equation, and look at Tebow as a man. Isn’t that what you want your son to be or the kind of man you want your daughter to bring home?

The world would be a better place if we all showed the kind of respect to each other that Tebow shows. Let the kids idolize Tim Tebow. Maybe our country won’t be doomed to a future of moral wasteland.
