The Most Disturbing Mugshots in NFL History

Jared FeldmanOct 23, 2011

NFL stars seem to get in trouble a lot.

When said stars get in trouble, they get arrested. At such arrest times and jail visits, they get mugshots taken.

These are those mugshots.

While NFL players have been getting in trouble for decades, it is only in recent times that the pictures really begin to tell the tale.

Some players seem surprised in their mugshots, others very angry and others still quite confused about their predicaments.

Here are some of the most disturbing of those mugshots.

Randy Moss

1 of 10

Moss was arrested after a routine traffic stop for marijuana possession. Supposedly, Moss failed to comply with officers requests and possibly bumped a traffic officer to the ground. Regardless of the what really happened, Moss spent one night in jail where a police shutterbug captured this classic image.

Don't look in Randy's mouth; he might be hiding something,

OJ Simpson

2 of 10

What isn't disturbing about OJ Simpson?

It's tough to run through his entire wrap sheet, but it begins with a domestic violence charge in 1989 and then a double murder charge in 1994.

Though OJ was found "not guilty" in a criminal case he was found guilty in a civil trial and forced to pay reparations but served no time.

Despite that brush with the law Simpson failed to shy away from the police as in 2007 he led a group of gunmen into a Las Vegas Hotel and stole sports memorabilia.

He was arrested, obviously and is now incarcerated.

He's eligible for parole in six or so years.

Plaxico Burress

3 of 10

Considering he just shot himself in the leg, Plaxico seems rather calm. On November 28th, 2008 Burress accidently shot himself with his own gun while in a Manhattan nightclub.

Realistically, this was taken after he received medical treatment for his injuries, He turned himself in two days after the incident. Still, why is he so stoic?

He must have really wanted to get away from Tom Coughlin, no matter what the cost.

Rae Carruth

4 of 10

Carruth's girlfriend was shot by a friend of Carruth in a nightclub in 1999. Instead of helping his girlfriend, Carruth inexplicably decided to drive away from the scene.

He posted a three million dollar bail and promised to turn himself in. He didn't, and was eventually found in in his car outside of a nearby motel.

Besides his actions, the real question is, how is his head that tall? Perhaps an alien impersonating Carruth committed those crimes?

Deion Sanders

5 of 10

Why is Deion so happy? Does he know where he is?

Deion was arrested in 1996 for misdemeanor trespassing. Possibly the lamest NFL mugshot arrest. As the story goes, Sanders was found fishing in a lake owned by the Southwest Florida International Airport.

He ignored the no trespassing and no fishing signs as well as an earlier verbal warning from local law enforcement.

Jamarcus Russell

6 of 10

Jamarcus Russell was arrested for possession of codeine syrup without an appropriate prescription in Mobile in 2010. He was released on bail and eventually all charges were dropped, but seriously how much more can go wrong for Russell?

Obviously, he's angry for getting pulled over, but perhaps he should be more angry about his performance as the Raiders quarterback.

Michael Vick

7 of 10

Maybe Vick is finally having the epiphany he was due for quite some time.

He's looking to the heavens to understand that dog fighting is bad.

Most everyone knows the story, a property owned by Vick in Virginia was found to be hosting a number of illegal dog fights. Vick was found guilty of funding the operation as well as taking part in some fights as well as executions of a number of canines.

Though Vick is back in the NFL his actions shouldn't be forgotten.

Ray Lewis

8 of 10

Good old Ray Lewis.

A fight broke out at a Super Bowl XXXIV party resulting in the stabbing deaths of two men. Ray Lewis and two companions were indicted on murder charges.Ā  Though the murder charges were dropped Lewis did plead guilty to misdemeanor obstruction of justice.

If you believed this picture, you'd see that Ray wouldn't hurt a fly.

Would he?

Laurence Maroney

9 of 10

Maroney was arrested in January 2011 for a concealed weapons possession.

While the charges were dropped, the question remains: Is Pippy Longstocking a hero to Maroney?

Ricky Williams

10 of 10

Ricky Williams has publicly has spoken often on his love of marijuana. This arrest, officially isn't due to possession or intoxication.

Williams was arrested in 2000 for refusing to sign a traffic ticket. That's right he was pulled over and ticketed for swerving across a lane. He wasn't accused of driving under any kind of influence, rather he wouldn't sign the ticket and for that he was arrested.

Let's assume that Ricky was a good enough actor to fool the cops but lets be real about why he was ticketed in the first place.

If that argument isn't good enough, just look at the picture.
