Chris Cook Arrested: How Will Vikings Fare Without Top CB?
Winning another game will be a struggle for this team. The Minnesota Vikings are clearly the worse team in the NFC North, possibly the NFC. Their starting QB was just benched and now their best CB Chris Cook has been arrested on charges of domestic violence.
One of the Vikings many weaknesses is its secondary. They are 24th in the league against the pass and this instance is just in time for the Green Bay Packers visit to the Dome.
At full strength, it is a stretch to imagine the Vikings keeping pace with the high-powered Packers attack. Now, fantasy owners with Rodgers or any Packers wide receiver or tight end, should be falling over themselves to get to their computers or smartphones to start their Green Bay representative.
Chris Cook has yet to pick off a pass this year, but he is gaining respect as a solid cover man and tackler in the league. Cook isn't elite, but most NFL offenses seem to avoid throwing at him and are picking on the Vikings' other corners.
To compound Cook's absence, veteran CB Antoine Winfield is listed as doubtful, still out with a neck injury. That leaves either Marcus Sherrels or Asher Allen starting along side Cedric Griffin in the Vikings secondary.
This certainly isn't the time for instability on the defensive side of the ball. As of now, Cook is being held without bail with a court date scheduled for Monday morning.
