Seattle Seahawks vs. Cleveland Browns: Injury Updates for Both Teams

Darin PikeOct 20, 2011

Updated with Friday report:

The Seattle Seahawks (2-3) will have their second straight 10:00 AM PDT kickoff as they travel to Cleveland this weekend to face the Browns. Both teams have injury issues that could impact the outcome.

This was looking to be a good matchup when both teams were at full-strength. The Browns (2-3) have a solid, albeit over-ranked, pass defense led by Joe Haden. Their offense was centered around last season's breakout running back, Peyton Hillis.

The status for both of these players is in doubt, as neither has been practicing this week.

The Seahawks could be without a few key starters of their own.

Seatlle quarterback Tarvaris Jackson has been limited in practice after straining a pectoral muscle against the Giants. He could end up turning the starting job over to Charlie Whitehurst; the starting quarterback will be a game-time decision according to Pete Carroll.

Tight end Zach Miller is out for Sunday following a wicked hit to the head in that game, and center Max Unger has been hobbled over the bye week with a foot injury.

None of these losses will impact the Seahawks as much as the losses of Hillis and Haden, though.

The line on this game still shows Seattle as a three-point underdog. This likely has more to do with a rampant misunderstanding of the overall talent on the Seahawks roster than the Browns being able to win the game.

Cleveland at full-strength and at home would have been a solid challenge for the Seahawks. However, missing their best player on both offense and defense will make it a difficult adjustment.

Close wins over the Dolphins (0-5) and Colts (0-6) are hardly impressive, and the Browns do not match up well with the Seahawks.

The Browns will struggle with their current injury issues, but good news is around the corner. They host the currently-winless Rams in a few weeks.
