Top NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Candidates

The Offensive Rookie of the Year award is Cam Newton's to lose through five games.  There was a lot of debate about his ability to play quarterback in the NFL coming out of college.  He has shut the doubters up with his hot start to the season.

If he does stumble, there is a group of receivers that includes A.J. Green, Julio Jones and Doug Baldwin that's waiting to take advantage.

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton

1 of 4

Newton has proven through five games that he was worthy of the No. 1 overall pick.

He is averaging 322 yards per game passing.  While he has thrown six interceptions, he has more than made up for the mistakes with seven passing touchdowns and five rushing touchdowns.

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green

2 of 4

The Bengals drafted Green because they needed a big-play receiver.  He has been just that through the first five games.

Green is averaging 16.8 yards per catch and has 402 yards with three touchdowns.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones

3 of 4

The Falcons spent a lot to move up and get Julio Jones on draft day.  They have to pleased with the production so far.

He has not found the end zone yet, but he does have 25 catches for 358 yards in five games.

Seattle Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin

Baldwin is the best value on this list.  He was signed by the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent.

In five games, he has 20 catches for 330 yards and two touchdowns.
