NFL Week 5: 3 Teams on Upset Alert This Sunday

Scott L. HutchinsonOct 6, 2011

Football is an unpredictable game. In fact, one of the greatest things about the NFL is that absolutely anything can happen at any time. Each week, we as fans and analysts are reminded that any team can win any game, no matter the situation.Ā

This week is no different.

Here are three teams that could very well end up on the wrong side of an upset this Sunday.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Tennessee Titans

1 of 3

We're only a quarter of the way through the regular season, but things certainly aren't going as planned for the 2-2 Pittsburgh Steelers. Their offense has struggled mightily, and with 3-1 Tennessee coming to town this Sunday, don't be surprised to see them lose a second straight and fall below .500.

The Titan defense is ranked eighth against the rush, and considering that Rashard Mendenhall could be a no-go due to a hamstring injury Pittsburgh could be in for another unproductive offensive day.Ā

Predicted Score: 24-20 Tennessee

Philadelphia Eagles at Buffalo Bills

2 of 3

If you go by records alone this isn't technically an upset, but if the "Dream Team" were to lose a fourth straight...Hell just might freeze over.

That said, Philly appears to be completely out of sync, and although the Bills suffered a surprising loss at the hands of Cincinnati last week, they have proven themselves to be a force in the AFC East.

Fitzpatrick and the boys are back in Buffalo for this one, and they would love nothing more than to bounce back with a huge upset victory at home.Ā

Predicted Score:Ā 30-24 Buffalo

New Orleans Saints at Carolina Panthers

3 of 3

Sure, the Carolina Panthers are 1-3, but they also haven't lost a single game by more than a one score. That's saying something when you consider the fact that two of their losses came at the hands of the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers.

Cam Newton has been playing out of his mind to this point, and New Orleans' suspect pass defense could be in for a long afternoon if they can't find a way to slow him down.Ā

The Saints have won three straight, but they could very well be going home disappointed on Sunday. Ā Ā

Predicted Score:Ā 31-30 Carolina
