Calvin Johnson: How Detroit Lions WR Made Cris Carter Look Really Bad
There's an easy explanation for that gross, gulping sound they're hearing in the studios at ESPN.
That's Cris Carter being force-fed about 10 pounds of humble pie.

It doesn't taste good and it's going down with difficulty.
Let's reset the table real quick if you will.
Last week, Carter was babbling something about "elite" receivers in the National Football League and for some reason unbeknown to mankind, he just happened to leave the amazing Calvin Johnson off that esteemed list of his.
We hear that later, Carter left Abe Lincoln off his list of "elite" U.S. Presidents.
It really didn't bother the guy who counts the most and that's Johnson himself. Hopefully, you didn't snooze through that furious Lions comeback on Sunday. What transpired in the clutch was Johnson doing what Johnson does and that's basically looking like the poster-guy for "elite" receivers.
He put the "E" in elite twice for touchdowns, oneย around the 1:44 mark that sealed the deal. One where he took a nasty hit and fell hard to the fake turf there in theย Big D. He was shaken, briefly, but minutes later was no worse for the wear.
That's kind of the way it goes with "Megatron,"ย doesn't it?
Johnson has eight TD passes in four games, exactly two in each.ย Yes, Carter the Clown had eight in four games but not two in each, which gives Johnson a category of his own, one that has not been reached in NFL history.
Now Carter has gone from one extreme to the other. He now has Johnson the "King" of NFL receivers. You have to love thatโfrom left out to "King" in less than a week.
Why didn't Carter just tell the truth and say he had a brain-fart? That would at least give us a logical explanation for his oversight.
Wouldn'tย it be nice to listen in onย some ESPN production meeting after Johnson's show on Sunday?
"Hey, would someone please tell that idiot Carter to take back what he said about Calvin Johnson? We just can't have that hanging over our heads, look at this guy, he's Superman!"
Ah, the powers-that-are at ESPN.
Seems Merrill Hoge got the "make it up to Calvin" assignment.
Who's gonna argue with that?
