Fantasy Football Week 4 Injury Report: Roddy White, Frank Gore and More

Nicholas GossOct 2, 2011

Knowing the latest injury status of your fantasy football stars is vitally important for your team having the best week possible.

Week 4 of the NFL season has quite a few star players battling injuries, and among them are Atlanta Falcons receiver Roddy White, San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore and Oakland Raiders receiver Jacoby Ford.

Let's take look at the latest injury updates for these players, and if they'll be healthy enough to be productive for your team this week.

Frank Gore, San Francisco 49ers

1 of 3

San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore will play Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles despite spraining his ankle last week against the Cincinnati Bengals, according to NFL Network's Albert Breer.

However, CSN Bay Area is reporting that rookie running back Kendall Hunter was named the starting running back today for the 49ers.

Even before Gore's injury last week, he was struggling in the 49ers rushing attack. He has just 148 rushing yards in three games this season, with just one rushing touchdown.

Part of what makes Gore so effective is his ability to be a premier pass-catching running back, but this season he's only caught six passes for 36 yards and no touchdowns.

Advice: Gore will play this week, but his effectiveness will likely be small. The Eagles defense will be keying on Gore without an elite 49ers receiver to worry about, and his injury could prevent him from making it through all four quarters on Sunday.

Roddy White, Atlanta Falcons

2 of 3

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White is expected to play Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, despite being officially listed as questionable with a thigh injury.

White has had a disappointing season, with many fantasy owners regretting drafting him in the first few rounds of their draft.

White has 20 receptions and 240 yards receiving with one touchdown this season, and as a whole the Falcons offense has been disappointing.

Advice: The Falcons need a win today badly to avoid a 1-3 start, and White will be counted on to carry the receiving corps. The Seahawks don't have a great defense, so White could be in for a good day if his thigh doesn't hinder him too much.

Jacoby Ford, Oakland Raiders

3 of 3

Jacoby Ford will be a game-time decision Sunday for the Oakland Raiders' matchup at home against the New England Patriots.

He is officially listed as questionable with a hamstring injury.

If Ford get's onto the field, he has a very favorable matchup against the Patriots pass defense, which is among the worst in the NFL.

Speed is what Ford's game is built on, and if his hamstring feels good today, he could be part of some big plays against a New England defense that has allowed 23 passing plays of 20 yards or more, the most of any team in football.

Advice: If Ford plays, which he likely will, his matchup against the Patriots is a very favorable one. His speed will cause problems for the New England secondary. It's a risk to start him, but the reward could be quite high.
