I hate to be the one breaking bad news to fantasy football owners, but it looks as if your investment in San Diego Chargers tight end Antonio Gates may be returning void.

Gates has been hampered by a foot injury this year that caused him to miss last week. The bad news for fantasy owners and Chargers fans alike is that he may miss more time than what we originally expected.

It may be time to start looking at replacements for Gates on your fantasy squad.

Here are your best options:

4. Jeremy Shockey, Carolina Panthers

Shockey is slowly becoming a reliable option for Cam Newton and the Panthers.

He's behind Greg Olsen on the depth chart, but he continues to get catches. He's totaled 137 yards on nine catches so far.

I think we're going to see a breakout game from Shockey very soon.

3. Tony Scheffler, Detroit Lions

Scheffler had a bad week against the Vikings, but he has been a pretty consistent target for Matthew Stafford.

He's racked up two touchdowns on just three catches this year. The Lions like to look at him in the red zone, especially with their big guns covered.

He's not going to get many looks, but when he does he usually is productive.

2. Fred Davis, Washington Redskins

Don't let a bad week against Dallas fool you.

Davis is becoming one of Rex Grossman's favorite targets. He is a good safety valve, but can also make some big plays.

He's posted 12 catches for 214 yards and one touchdown so far. I expect those numbers will get much better as the weeks go on.

1. Scott Chandler, Buffalo Bills

If you haven't caught on to this fact by now, it's time to hop aboard the bandwagon.

The Buffalo Bills are the real deal, and their offense is high-octane.

Chandler is a big part of the way they move the ball, but most owners aren't going to jump on him because they aren't paying attention to it.

He's scored in every game so far and has four touchdowns on nine catches.
