Ozzie Guillen: Florida Marlins Benefit from Another Chicago Screw-Up

Jun 7, 2018

The Chicago White Sox were one of the worst teams in MLB this season, but the blame shouldn’t fall on the shoulders of their controversial coach, Ozzie Guillen.

Whether or not it should all be dumped on Guillen, it’s clear that it already has.

Just because the general manager and higher ups made some of the worst offseason moves in years doesn’t mean they should let go of the only man that makes people care about their organization.

When people talk trash about Chicago for not knowing how to run a winning baseball team, they are right, and it’s a shame what the White Sox did to Guillen.

The USA Today is reporting that Guillen made a statement on his website, which was quickly taken down, about what is next on the coach’s docket:

"Although it's sad my time with the White Sox has ended. I can't tell you how thrilled I am to be a part of the Marlins organization. I have an unbelievable amount of respect for the Marlins, owner Jeffrey Loria, president Larry Beinfest and general manager Michael Hill. I can't thank them enough for this opportunity and look forward to the future.

"I can't wait to get started! I think Jerry did me a favor. It was my call, and I appreciate the Chicago White Sox for letting me do what I want. Maybe it's not for the best. Maybe I won't appreciate what I've got here. But sometimes you have to turn the page. Hopefully, the next book will be as good as this one."

The Florida Marlins are a team without a face, but now the years of moving in no direction at all have come to a screeching halt.

With a strong Hispanic influence in the Miami area, Guillen will become the man that the fans get behind, and his antics will be the spark that not only gets that team to play solid ball, but drives fans back into the usually empty seats.

While the White Sox will flounder for at least five years while they recover from some of the worst free-agent deals in history (I’m looking at you Adam Dunn), the young Florida Marlins will gain a new sense of energy from a wild coach that has won a World Series before.
