Week 3 is getting closer and closer, and if you are one of those people who forgot to put in your waiver claim, I am here to help scour the leftovers.  There are a ton of great matchups and plug-and-plays this week, especially with all the injuries so far.

Here are five last-minute adds that will boost your team to victory this week.

Tony Scheffler

Tony Scheffler has been a great early-season surprise, scoring touchdowns in both games so far.  This week he could come up even bigger with the shoulder injury that has kept Brandon Pettigrew out of practice.  The Lions are saying Pettigrew will play against the Vikings, but Scheffler definitely gets an upgrade with this injury.

Minnesota has given up eight catchers for 77 yards per game to tight ends, so if you need help at that position, Scheffler is your man this week.   If you need a fill-in for an injury to Aaron Hernandez, I like him over other TE waiver-wire pickups Jeff King, Eric Moore and Jermaine Gresham.

Bernard Scott

What do you know...another Bengal getting in trouble with the law.  Cedric Benson was slapped with a three-game suspension for violating the league's personal conduct policy, which he will appeal, set to start Week 4.

If and when Benson misses time, Bernard Scott will get most of the carries for the Bengals, and after averaging 4.9 yards a carry last year he could pay some dividends quickly.  Jump the gun now before all your other leaguemates do.

Denarius Moore

Denarius Moore is nasty.  Watch these highlights, then you will want to pick him up instantly.  He is a straight beast and will start getting much more playing time, especially with the injuries to Jacoby Ford and Darrius Heyward-Bey.

If you haven't heard the quote from Hue Jackson in Wall Street Journal, here it is:

He's done it in training camp, he's done it in practice, he's done it in preseason games and he's done it in regular-season games. He is as advertised. He made some plays. I mean, it's going to be hard to keep that young man off the field, and he hasn't been. He's been one of the active guys, and we'll continue to fire that.

I might not start Moore this week, due to the fact that he is most likely going to be on Revis Island, but I would much rather have him than other hot waiver-wire WR pickups like Eric Decker and David Nelson.  If he is still somehow available, get him.

Jesse Holley

The winner of Michael Irvin's "Fourth and Long" reality show has actually panned out so far.  He was a long shot to even make the team but after Miles Austin went down, he was the receiver the Dallas quarterbacks were keying.

If Austin misses any time, which is predicted to be until after the Cowboys' Week 6 bye, Jesse Holley can come up big.

We already saw Holley burn Donte Whitner for a 77-yard overtime grab that set up the game-winning field goal and there should be many more plays just like that ahead for him in the near future.

Kevin Ogletree is slated to start opposite Dez Bryant, if Dez even plays, so he is another guy to check out, but I like Holley's potential a little more than Ogletree's.

Blaine Gabbert

Jacksonville finally did something right when they named Blaine Gabbert its starting quarterback this week.  When Gabbert came in all he did was go 5-of-6 passing for 52 yards, not bad considering Luke McCown threw for only 59 through three quarters.

The McCown experiment failed quickly, and with all the weapons on Jacksonville, its offense isn't really that bad. Mike Thomas is a respectable receiver, Maurice Jones-Drew is a given, and Marcedes Lewis is a quality tight end.

This week's matchup is also intriguing against the Carolina Panthers and No. 1 pick Cam Newton (Gabbert went 10th).  Currently, the Panthers are the NFL's fourth-worst passing defense so Gabbert isn't only a good waiver pickup, he may even be a good spot start.

So there ya go, hopefully some of these guys are still available in your league.  Good luck in Week 3, and if you have any other fantasy questions, feel free to leave them in the comments.
