Michael Silver is reporting that Cedric Benson has been suspended for three games beginning in Week 4. This becomes even more fantasy relevant when you examine the Bengals schedule during Benson's suspension:

Week 4 vs. Buffalo

Week 5 at Jacksonville

Week 6 vs. Indianapolis

There's really not a good run-defense in the bunch. The Bengals will most likely use Bernard Scott and Brian Leonard to fill Benson's role in the offense. Scott is the guy you want here, especially in PPR leagues.

The Bengals coaching staff has always talked about wanting to get Scott more involved in the offense. Currently, he just returns kicks and sees a couple carries a game as a change-of-pace option to Benson. Scott could quickly become the No. 2 option in the Bengals passing game for Andy Dalton. Leonard will probably just see some work on obvious rushing downs, although he's the best bet for whatever goal-line carries the Bengals offense can generate.

A key thing to remember here is that Benson only signed a one-year contract with the Bengals this offseason. He's not a part of their future. Scott very well could be. If Scott performs well, he could easily eat into Benson's carries upon his return. This is the kind of player you want to roster in fantasy leagues. There's some immediate potential and some long-term upside here.

Don't get cute and wait until next week to pick up Scott because Benson will play in Week 3. Somebody else will beat you to him or outbid you. Pick him up now and just carry him on your bench for a week.

I'm on Twitter, you can follow me, if you so desire. Good luck in Week 3.
