Week 3 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: 2 QBs with Starter Potential

Eric BallJun 7, 2018

The QB situation in the NFL is interesting right now.

Players are throwing for more yards than ever before yet are not getting the sort of TD production that fantasy players love.

Most leagues award one fantasy point for every 30-50 yards passing, so the gap is not very large after your Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees and Tom Bradys.

That means the difference between the sixth-best QB and the 26th isn’t extraordinarily high.

If you aren’t happy with the production of your QB, take a look at these options that are available in most leagues.

Rex Grossman, Washington Redskins

Why is a guy that’s thrown for 596 yards and four TDs still only owned in 17 percent of all ESPN leagues?

It’s clear that Grossman has learned from his mistakes of the past and has been reborn in Washington. He has the best receiving corps of his career and a solid running game to keep the defense honest.

He may be prone to an INT or two, but is just as likely to find Santana Moss or Anthony Armstrong on a long bomb with his renewed sense of confidence.

With the Redskins playing in a division with two incredibly weak secondaries (Giants, Cowboys), there is no reason to believe these numbers won’t continue to get better as the season progresses.

Kyle Orton, Denver Broncos

This guy was one of the league leaders in yards and TDs before getting benched in favor of Tim Tebow last year.

In two games this year, he’s doing it again.

New head coach John Fox wants to run the ball but doesn’t have the personnel to do it. That means the Broncos are a pass-first team yet again, and expect the big plays to come in bunches.

Despite carrying a mere two healthy receivers for most of Week 2, Orton still managed to hook up with WR Eric Decker for a 52-yard bomb en route to two TD passes.

With favorite target Brandon Lloyd set to return from injury this week, expect the offensive fireworks to continue for the foreseeable future.
