5 Receivers to Support Chicago Bears' Jay Cutler in the Passing Game in 2012

Jeff ChaseJun 6, 2018

So from the looks of it, Roy Williams just may not cut it this season

That being said, the Chicago Bears are once again left short-handed without a true wideout.

The Bears have invested a lot of money in quarterback Jay Cutler, so they need to provide him with players to get a return on their investment.

This upcoming offseason will provide many highly touted receivers, many of them being in the early parts of their careers in the NFL

Most of these guys are key components of their teams, but if the Chicago Bears can do what they did with Julius Peppers, they just may be able to lure one of these players from their team.

The regular season has yet to start so we will see what happens with Roy Williams but if it doesn't seem to be working, here are a few players the Bears can target next season.

Pierre Garcon

1 of 5

Pierre Garcon may be a great receiver stuck in the land of great receivers.

He also may appear to be a great receiver because of the guy who throws to him, Peyton Manning.

The big Indianapolis Colts wideout may be the answer the Chicago Bears and Jay Cutler are looking for.

Garcon is only 6'0" tall, but he provides a bigger build then that of Johnny Knox or Devin Hester.

We will have to see how much time Garcon gets this season, as he will be sharing plays once again with an aging Reggie Wayne and a toss up in Anthony Gonzalez.

Vincent Jackson

2 of 5

The currently franchised tagged wideout of the San Diego Chargers could possibly be the best potential receiver available in 2012.

With a 6'5" frame, Vincent Jackson would compliment Jay Cutler and his crew of small wide receivers.

With Jackson's height and Hester's speed, the Bears would certainly have themselves a threat on each side of Cutler.

Even though he has been in contract disputes over the last few seasons, it doesn't mean Jackson wants out of San Diego.

As is always the case, things will be clearer once the season gets going and we get an idea of where teams are going.

All we do know is that the Chargers can't place the franchise tag on him again.

Dwayne Bowe

3 of 5

The Kansas City Chiefs are going to have a big decision on their hands.

Unless they can get a contract done, their star receiver will be out on the town next year.

Dwayne Bowe is another perfect compliment to Jay Cutler. Touting a 6'2" frame, Dwayne Bowe has easily become one of the better receivers in the league.

Currently he has Matt Cassel throwing to him. If Bowe can make Cassel look that good, he and Jay Cutler will likely be heading to Pro Bowl Seasons.

Bowe may also get the franchise tag slapped on him.

If he is available though, expect to see the Bears as a major player for him.

Anthony Gonzalez

4 of 5

As I mentioned earlier, Anthony Gonzalez is another skilled wideout that the Chicago Bears could take a look at.

This year he finds himself starting on the depth chart, but with Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie below him, no one can be sure how this receiver carousel will go.

Gonzalez though hasn't really been able to show his talents yet. Having a down season last year due to an injury, people have yet to really figure him out.

Gonzalez is another example of a player that I just am not sure if he could succeed outside of Peyton Manning.

We will see what happens week one if No. 18 isn't on the field.

Marques Colston

5 of 5

We are going to have to see how the season goes down in New Orleans. After a Super Bowl win in 2009, followed by a first round loss to the Seattle Seahawks in last years playoffs, Marques Colston may just be looking for a new place to call home.

I am not sure if this vital piece of New Orleans' offense will be leaving the black and gold, but if he does, his 6'4" frame would certainly work well with Jay Cutler.

Colston definitely has the talent, and he could thrive once again in a big city like Chicago. Colston would certainly take the Bears to new heights, and he could find himself putting up big numbers with another big armed quarterback.

This is another scenario where we have to see how the season goes. Chances are that the Saints won't let Colston get very far, but perhaps he will just slip out of there and find himself wearing blue and orange.
