NFL Debate: The 10 Best Current Helmet Designs

0 of 10

Some organizations seem to change their uniforms every five or six years, while others have gone virtually unchanged for decades. There have been some really good changes, and some regrettable ones as well. The Buffalo Bills changed up their look for the upcoming season, and it looks pretty good.

Some changes are subtle enough to where they just give a small change that works well. Some have tried to dramatically change the entire face of the franchise, and it has backfired. Looking at the helmet designs over the past several years, some have really stood out above the rest. These are the top 10 helmet designs in today's game.

10. Carolina Panthers

1 of 10

Carolina has one of the best animals as its team name. No lions, tigers or bears here, just a big black panther. The silver goes great with the right amount of black and blue. Fans in Carolina are hoping the team doesn't end up turning those colors again this year.

9. Baltimore Ravens

2 of 10

Baltimore goes all dark and Halloween on us with the black and purple, which looks great. Nothing looks as nice as when the Ravens go with the black pants and black jersey on a night game. The helmet just completes the whole atmosphere.

8. San Diego Chargers

No matter which jersey they decide to go with, the helmet always looks good. The bolts on both sides are a perfect display on the all-white helmet. We all love the powder blue tops, but it was the right call to go with the dark blue bolts.

7. Green Bay Packers

4 of 10

Green Bay is probably the only team that could pull off a big bright yellow helmet with a touch of green. The logo itself on the helmet represents all of the history and the small city itself. Even if it isn't tops on this list, it is still one of the most unique helmets in sports.

6. Chicago Bears

5 of 10

Chicago keeps it plain and simple with the signature letter "C" on the dark blue helmet. Plain and simple is what this team is all about. Run the ball and play great defense. Sometimes less is more, and in this case, it works perfectly.

5. Oakland Raiders

6 of 10

The silver and black is all you need to know here. It seems like silver helmets are awesome in general, but when you throw some black on it, it really stands out. Just a simple silver helmet with a very popular logo, it works!

4. Philadelphia Eagles

7 of 10

Even though a lot of people still love the older traditional light green helmet, I have always found this one to be very cool. The dark green with giant wings on either side really make it look like these guys are soaring. You really can't go wrong with either one, but these are better than the old ones in my opinion.

3. Indianapolis Colts

8 of 10

Can you really get any more simple than this helmet? No weird horse face, no giant bronco on steroids, just a plain and simple horseshoe. A blue horseshoe on a plain white helmet may seem dull to some, but this is one of the best ones out there, without a doubt.

2. Dallas Cowboys

9 of 10

How cool is this helmet right here? This is probably everyone's favorite helmet, and for good reason. The simple star on both sides of a silver helmet just mesh together so well. I could easily see why everyone in the world loves these lids, except the fans of the other NFC East teams.

1. Kansas City Chiefs

I am sorry, but if you don't dig this helmet, there is something wrong with you. The bright red helmet goes great with either uniform, and the white arrowhead rocks on either side look amazing. This is one of the coolest logos in the league, and it all fits in so well with the sea of red at Arrowhead Stadium.
