San Francisco 49ers: Rome Wasn't Built in a Day and Nothing Good Ever Is
Early frustrations amongst fans make sense to some degree. After all, it has been nine long years and five torturous months since we last made the playoffs. But after only a few days in business, 49er fans are already feeling defeated.
Maybe it has become habit, but the pessimism is casting a dark shadow on almost all 49er conversations. We are getting worse, we suck, etc. You've read it I am sure. And although I can empathize with their suffering, the rush to early judgement is starting to bother me now.
It is hard to watch some of these high caliber players sign with other teams. Some of these guys are Pro Bowl quality players that we could use—but keep perspective, Niner fans.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
I would estimate that at least 75 percent of all the free agent signings (besides the rookies) were either players who are 30-plus or backups. And all of them were not looked at as "worth the money" by their former teams. As is true every year.
The guys who were backups were backups for a reason. Including our own guys. And I am not saying all or even most 30-plus players are worthless, as there are many who prove that to be false. But when trying to build a dynasty you don't blow the bank on players that are on their way down. The 49ers are building for today and tomorrow, while teams like the Eagles are obviously only building for today.
Don't get me wrong, there are going to be some free agent pick-ups that excite the faithful very soon, so you have that to look forward to. But when all is said and done, the 49ers will be a team of young fast talented guys with a handful of vets to lead the way. Speed on offense, speed on defense—that seems to be the theme.
In all honesty, I am just looking forward to seeing the progress we make this week. I am looking forward to the progress we make this year, but equally, like Jim Harbaugh and Trent Baalke, I am looking forward to the progress we will make over the next decade.
Rome wasn't built in a day. Nothing good ever is. Ask LeBron.
Time to have faith again.
