Nnamdi Asomugha: Will Philadelphia Eagles Show Asante Samuel the Door?
Nnamdi Asomugha Heading to Philadelphia Eagles, Asante Samuel Murmurs Begin
The Philadelphia Eagles are bringing in Nnamdi Asomugha. Their Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie acquisition through the Kevin Kolb trade seemed to write off the Eagles as a candidate, but Asomugha has been reported to be an Eagle.
A new team seemed to be the front-runner in the Asomugha sweepstakes, but in the end, it was the Eagles who came away with free agency's biggest prize.

They now have Rodgers-Cromartie, Asomguha and Asante Samuel under contract. It appears that one of them could very well be out the door. The writing could very well be on the wall for Samuel.
Samuel plays a completely different style than Asomugha. Samuel is a playmaker. He's a feast or famine type of corner who makes a living by putting up a ridiculous amount of picks and being able to take some of the picks back to the house.
Asomugha completely eliminates a team's No. 1 receiver. He's a true shutdown corner, and given the Eagles' bold move, it appears that they are going to be parting ways with Samuel.
They can now build their defense around a Rodgers-Cromartie and Asomugha tandem. They already have the most explosive offense in the league. By adding Asomugha, they now have a defensive superstar to help their defense match their offensive production.
The Eagles are making moves this offseason. Rather than be content with their decent season in 2010, they are wheeling and dealing to try to get to a Super Bowl. They've now orchestrated the biggest offseason trade and biggest free agency acquisition. Bravo Philadelphia.
While this doesn't look good for Samuel, he's not going to be at a loss for suitors if he hits the market. Many of the teams that were highly interested in Asomugha are still without a corner.
How interesting would it be to see Samuel join the Cowboys and get to play Dallas twice a year? There are a couple of teams in the Bay area still looking for a corner and if the Jets elect to pass on Cormartie, they could be tempted to couple Samuel with Darrelle Revis.
This move just made the Eagles the biggest post-lockout offseason winners, regardless of what happens from here on out.
