MLB Rumors: Ubaldo Jimenez of Rockies for Yonder Alonso, Volquez in Cincinnati?
I was browsing the current state of trades in MLB this morning when I saw what the Colorado Rockies demanded from the Cincinnati Reds for their ace of the staff,ย Ubaldo Jimenez. According to Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com, they wantย Yonder Alonso and a MLB starting pitcher.
Alonso was recently called up from Triple-A Louisville to fill the spot vacated by Jonny Gomes' recent departure to the nation's capital. He is currently being used as a pinch-hitter while Reds fans impatiently continue to watch the Chris Heisey experiment.
The Reds' Opening Day starter, Edinson Volquez is currently doing time with the Louisville Bats and looks as though he will be ready to return to the upper level shortly.

2020 MLB Re-Draft โฎ๏ธ
After the horrendous performance by Homer Bailey on Thursday it is evident that the Reds are going to continue sinking in possibly the worst division in MLB. They are now 6.5 games out of first place and are currently five games below .500. There is no more time for indecisiveness or loyalty.
The Rockies are offering up the 19-game winner for a pinch-hitter and _____________, who can't get his head and arse wired together. You could fill in the blank with Volquez or Bailey.
If Alonso is not the impact player Reds fans across the fruited plain thought he was, Cincinnati should get a needed staple for him. The Reds need an ace, and "Baldy" is the best one available.
Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of Reds Country. Now is the time for general managerย Walt Jocketty to get rid of Volquez while something can be delivered in return. Is there perhaps some other dinosaur or relic he needs to shed to shore up the farm teams? Come on. Sack up and show us something.
If not, then certainly Bailey. It is becoming painful for this writer to live through the Groundhog Day career of this young man. He has promiseโat least that's what I keep hearing. When he is good he is very good. But when he is not good (see yesterday's box score).
It is plain to see that nothing good is going to come from the current eight men the Reds trot out each night. It matters not who plays shortstop now that Zack Cozart is down, the results tend to be the same.
The "SOS Stubbs" (my moniker for Drew Stubbs) will set the record for strikeouts in a season. Yes, America, he is the Reds leadoff man. We will continue to view Heisey's average plummet to Gomes-like numbers.
If I wereย Jocketty I would send Alonso and Volquez or Bailey to Denver so fast, fire would fly from their nether regions. While he is at it, he should probably look for a closer. I can't go down that road right nowโI am not young enough to fight that battle.
