NFL Trade Rumors: New Orleans Saints to Trade Reggie Bush to Miami Dolphins

It will be official Friday, but the Miami Dolphins will acquire running back Reggie Bush from the New Orleans Saints, according to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports.

The deal is currently still in the works with only one remaining challenge: Bush restructuring his contract with the Dolphins.

As of right now, Bush is set to earn $11.8 million this upcoming season prior to becoming a free agent in 2012. I would assume that the Miami Dolphins will be looking for a multi-year deal contract with Bush that includes a much lower base salary. 

Bush will join rookie Daniel Thomas to create Miami's newest two-headed monster backfield with the team likely cutting ties with Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams.

The biggest concern with Bush is that he has yet to play a full NFL season since his rookie year back in 2006. 

Last season for the Saints, Bush suited up for eight games as he ran for 150 yards while reeling in 34 balls for 208 yards and scoring a total of just one touchdown. 

Bush is one talented player with loads of potential and upside but has yet to establish himself as an every-down running back due to his inability to be effective running in between the tackles. 

In Miami, I would project that Thomas will emerge as the team's lead back as Bush will take the role as a change-of-pace back while being one of the team's top receivers.

Bush should fit in nicely in Miami's passing attack along with Brandon Marshall and Davone Bess and potentially now Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton, if the two sides are able to work out a trade. 

There have been no reports of details on Bush's new contract with Miami.
