Fly Like an Eagle? Latest Brett Favre Rumors Have Him Headed to Philly
We all know Brett Favre is a creature of habit. At the end of every season he retires and then every year at this time Ed Werder shows up on his front lawn trying to get the scoop on where Brett’s going to bring his latest comeback to. It looks like Ed might be making that trip to Hattiesburg again this year.
The NFL rumor mill is a-buzzing on Brett making a potential comeback and this time it’s to the Philadelphia Eagles. The same Philadelphia Eagles that have last year’s comeback player of the year Michael Vick on their roster. It’s assumed that Brett would be coming back in a backup role with the Eagles, but why would he?

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Yes, the Eagles will need some QB help once Kevin Kolb is traded and Favre is probably the best QB option out there, but there are many starting opportunities for Favre to go to.
There is no reason why Favre would make a comeback and not go to a team where he couldn't start. The Carolina Panthers, Tennessee Titans, Seattle Seahawks and of course the Minnesota Vikings are all possibly looking for some veteran help at the starting QB spot and you’d think Favre would rather go through the wear and tear of a NFL season to be a number one rather than a number two.
It’s all speculation at this point and Favre’s agent, Bus Cook, is saying that’s all it is, speculation. That’s Bus’ job though, protect Favre from whatever comes his way and it’s never been like Brett to tell us before hand what he’s doing.
Most of the time it takes some convincing and maybe even a contingent of teammates to come and drag him to Eden Prairie, but the current rumor doesn't have a group of purple going down and getting him.
The Eagles seem excited about Favre and his potential backup status with the team and who wouldn't be happy having, debatably, the best QB of all time. Even current Eagles QB Mike Vick seems to be excited, he tweeted this when hearing of the Favre rumors: “I would be honored to have Brett Favre as a backup. That will be amazing learning how to toy with defenses the way he did his whole career.”
Vick later deleted this, but it shows that some are open to this idea.
Some fans are very excited, CNBC’s sports business guru Darren Rovell tweeted a picture of an Eagle fan already sporting a Favre Eagle jersey. No word on a Seahawk or Titan Favre jersey yet, I’m sure one will show up soon enough.
As Brad Childress would say this is a ‘fluid situation’ and if you asked Brett he would ask himself the same question and then possibly answer it, but it’s another year and another Favre watch. Everybody get your popcorn ready and Ed Werder get your microphone ready, it’s happening again.
Aren’t you glad that football’s back?
