NFL Rumors: First 5 Quarterbacks on the Move Post-Lockout
July 25, 2011 will go down as a great day in sports history. The NFL lockout is officially over, and the free agency frenzy and trade chaos will begin tomorrow.
NFL clubs will be extremely active over the next week doing what normally lasts a few months. Needless to say, these guys will be earning their paycheck this week.
Because the NFL is a quarterback league, it will be interesting to see where some quarterbacks end up after this week.
Here are the first five quarterbacks on the move now that NFL teams can make deals.
5. Carson Palmer
1 of 5Carson Palmer will soon be moved to a new team or to his couch. The Cincinnati Bengals have maintained that they don't want to trade him, and if that is the case then Palmer will retire.
Palmer is very set on retiring, and the Bengals believe this to be true, which is why they drafted Andy Dalton.
If the Bengals were smart they would grant his wish and trade him, and now that the lockout is over we will soon find out if that will happen.
4. Vince Young
2 of 5Vince Young was dropped by the Tennessee Titans even though he still has a ton of talent. Off the field issues as well as team issues were the reason for his departure, but it could prove to be the best thing that ever happened to him.
Young was once thought to be the face of the franchise in Tennessee, but being released was a slap in the face and a huge reality check for him. He'll use that as motivation to bounce back and win the NFL.
The quarterback as proven he can be a winning quarterback, and because of that a team like Philadelphia or Miami will take the gamble and bring in Young.
3. Kyle Orton
3 of 5John Elway, John Fox and the Denver Broncos have a tough decision to make. Do they keep Kyle Orton, or trade him while his value is still decent?
Tim Tebow is waiting in the wings, and the Broncos chose him at the end of last season over Orton. Fox has yet to decide which quarterback will start, but the people want Tebow.
If the Broncos believe Tebow is the starter, then Orton needs to be dealt. Orton doesn't do the Broncos any good just sitting on the bench.
2. Donovan McNabb
4 of 5Donovan McNabb more than likely would have been traded during the 2011 NFL Draft had there not been a lockout.
His time in Washington hasn't gone well, and the Redskins would be better off trading him. Yes, they're not going to be very good without him, but they weren't very good with him this past year.
Mike Shanahan doesn't really want McNabb, but a lot of teams do want the veteran's services. McNabb will be headed to Minnesota or Tennessee to run the offense while the rookies develop.
1. Kevin Kolb
5 of 5The back-up quarterback has been the focal point of NFL trade rumors all summer long. The Philadelphia Eagles must deal Kolb while he is on the last year of his contract.
Not to mention that Kolb's value is extremely high at the moment, and it's never going to get any higher. Nobody knows if Kolb will amount to anything, but teams always make moves on the potential. And there is no doubt that Kolb has the potential to be a great starting quarterback in the NFL.
Kolb will be dealt to the Arizona Cardinals because they are extremely desperate for a quarterback.
