Arizona Cardinals: Top 10 Free Agents to Target

Tony SantorsaJun 7, 2018

It's just about over; the NFL lockout is one the verge of being 100 percent over, according to multiple sources.

Now that lockout is pretty much, what should the Arizona Cardinals do now?

Believe it or not, the Cardinals aren't that far off from being a contender in the rather weak NFC West, and only really need to address the quarterback and offensive guard positions—two major positions that are essiential to winning football games.

Here are the top ten players that the Arizona Cardinals should target now that the lockout is over.Ā

10. Marc Bulger

1 of 10

If the Cardinals are unable to land any big-name quarterbacks, then signing Marc Bulger wouldn't be such a bad idea.

Bulger could almost be like Kurt Warner verison 2.0—but obviously not as productive.

Bulger once backed up Warner in St. Louis, and then was the future replacement to Warner and put up just as impressive numbers. Since then, Bulger has spent time in Baltimore as he backed up Joe Flacco.

If Arizona does not find the right guy for their system, then Bulger is a seasoned veteran that could fill their needs for 2011.Ā

9. Vince Young

2 of 10

The Arizona Cardinals didn't have too much luck with the 2006 draft with the selection of Matt Leinart, but could try it again with quarterback Vince Young, who was selected seven packs ahead of Leinart.

Young is a proven winner with his 30-17 record as a starter and could be the long-term answer for the Cardinals quarterback woes.Ā

8. Donovan McNabb

3 of 10

Donovan McNabb may not be the long-term answer in Arizona, but could be used as a bridge if the Cardinals decide to invest faith and time into a young quarterback.

McNabb definitely has the potential to do well as a Cardinal, due to his solid mobility and his strong arm.

7. Jared Gaither

4 of 10

According to sources, the Baltimore Ravens will likely let offensive tackle Jared Gaither walk once free agency begins.Ā

Gaither, who is 25, is a young player that has the potential to be any team's starting left tackle.Ā

The major concern with Gaither is his health, as he suffered a major head injury back in 2009 and has yet to play since, but should be ready to go in 2011.Ā

6. Reggie Bush

5 of 10

Reggie Bush will ultimately become available whether if it's on the trading block of via free agency. Either way, the Arizona Cardinals should take a strong look at Bush.

Bush is a play-making running back that would be used more as a receiver—if the Cardinals snag a quarterback, then adding Bush would be a nice asset along with Larry Fitzgerald.Ā

5. Willie Colon

6 of 10

Due to missing the entire 2010 season thanks to anĀ Ā Achilles tendon tear, Willie Colon could potentially come cheap in free agency.

Colon is an interesting option, as he has ties with head coach Ken Whisenhunt, who spent many seasons on the Pittsburgh Steelers coaching staff prior to joining the Cardinals in 2007.

According to Fox Sports, once the season begins, Colon will be 100 percent healthy and ready to play.Ā

4. Tyson Clabo

7 of 10

Despite recent rumors that indicate that the Atlanta Falcons will re-sign Tyson Clabo, the Arizona Cardinals should make a play for the 29 year old offensive tackle.

Clabo is a solid run and pass blocker that would certainly bolster the Cardinals rather weak offensive line.Ā

3. Marshal Yanda

8 of 10

Marshal Yanda is a solid offensive linemen that can play guard or tackle and would be an ideal fit on Arizona's offensive line.

The 26 year old has spent his entire career with the Baltimore Ravens and could be a valuable asset to any team's offensive line due to his versatility.Ā

2. Carson Palmer

9 of 10

Carson Palmer is arguably the most talented quarterback available and the Arizona Cardinals may have the right pieces to land the passer from the Cincinnati Bengals.

Palmer would fit in nicely in Arizona's offense as he'd have a big enough arm to target Larry Fitzgerald on aĀ consistentĀ basis.

The 31 year old threw 26 touchdowns in 2011 while being picked off 20 times—which is definitely a concern. However, many tend to believe that Palmer's inconsistency is due to the players and coachesĀ surroundingĀ him.

In my opinion, Palmer would be a perfect fit in Arizona. Ā

1. Kevin Kolb

10 of 10

I am almost 100 percent positive that Kevin Kolb is atop of the Arizona Cardinals wish-list.Ā

Kolb has already been spending time with Larry Fitzgerald, as the two recently organized a private workout together and not to mention Kolb has been rumored to be looking for real estate in Arizona.Ā

Once free agency official begins, I am expecting that the Cardinals will do whatever it takes to land Kolb, as he's a young quarterback that has some much-needed experience under his belt.Ā
