Plaxico Burress: 5 Potential Landing Spots for the WR

We're currently sitting during the last few days of the NFL lockout, as both sides are currently "dotting i's and crossing t's," we can now start looking forward to free agency.

There are many big-time players available on the market, but none of them come with the storyline that Plaxico Burress has.

Burress spent the last two years in jail, now he's an available wide receiver that has the potential to be quite the asset in any team's offense.

Here are five potential landing spots for Plaxico Burress.

St. Louis Rams

If Plaxico Burress shows up and is ready to compete at a high level, then there's no better fit than the St. Louis Rams.

Burress would immediately become the Rams' No. 1 wide receiver and would play a significant role in developing the young quarterback in Sam Bradford.

Bradford's stats would not only jump tremendously, but the Rams offense would definitely improve and the team would have a legitimate shot at being the NFC West front-runners to win the division. 

New York Jets

If the New York Jets aren't able to keep onto both Santonio Holmes and Braylon Edwards, then the Jets could be a potential suitor for Plaxico Burress.

Holmes and Edwards will likely be looking for big-money come free agency and it will certainly be a challenge to lock up both along with New York's many other free agents.

Burress would come at a cheap price, considering he's missed the last two seasons, and would be a low-risk, high-reward player. 

New England Patriots

Throw Plaxico Burress in with Deion Branch and Wes Welker and the New England Patriots wide receiver corps would suddenly become one of the league's most feared. 

Entering this of-season, the Patriots have a couple issues offensively, and one is obtaining a dynamic, playmaking and physical wide receiver. Whether it's Taylor Price or Brandon Tate, New England may decide to search within to find that player, but Burress could be a possible option.

Burress would come at a much lower cost than someone like Sidney Rice, but could serve the same purpose and put up just as impressive production. 

Philadelphia Eagles

Plaxico Burress would be a perfect fit in Philadelphia. 

Burress would join Desean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin to create one of the most prolific passing attacks in all of football.

However, is scenario logical? 

Ashley Fox, of ESPN, believes so:

Now, after the successful integration of Vick into the Eagles organization, the campaigning has begun for the team to sign Plaxico Burress. Vick has said publicly that he wants Burress on the team. So has Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson. From the sound of it, the Eagles are on Burress' short list, and in all likelihood, given how many times Reid had to watch Burress torch his team with the New York Giants, Reid wants Burress on the team, although he cannot say so and even if he could, he would not.

But it makes perfect sense, for both sides.

Seattle Seahawks

Would Plaxico Burress joining the Seattle Seahawks make sense? 

Head coach Pete Carroll is definitely a player's coach and is a high-character guy, it's a strong possibility that Burress and Carroll could be the perfect match.

Seattle does not have a true No. 1 wide receiver and Burress could potentially serve that immediate purpose.

It's unclear on who will be the Seahawks starting quarterback in 2011, but whomever it may, they'd love to see Burress lining up as one of their possible options.
