Kansas City Chiefs: 6 Most Probable Future Hall of Famers on the Current Roster
With the NFL lockout dragging into late July, it's time to look forward to the future of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Several Chiefs players have been inducted in the NFL Hall of Fame over the years, including greats such as Len Dawson, Emmitt Thomas and the late Derrick Thomas.
Are there any players on the current Chiefs roster that have a chance to make it to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the future?
Read on to find out.
Tamba Hali
1 of 6Hali might just be the best pass-rusher that the franchise has had since Chiefs legend Derrick Thomas was in KC.
Like a few others on this list, he had a breakout season in '10, collecting 14.5 sacks and showing that he has made a smooth transition from defensive end to outside linebacker in the Chiefs 3-4 defense.
With the addition of former University of Georgia star Justin Houston, this should free up Hali more to attack the QB, which is his greatest strength.
If Chiefs defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel can find a way to maximize this strength over the next few seasons, Hali could be in the NFL Hall of Fame after his career is over.
Eric Berry
2 of 6Arguably the most talented player on the Chiefs roster, Eric Berry can do it all from his strong safety position.
He can stop the run, defend the pass and make the occasional great play on defense.
After somewhat of a slow start to his rookie season, he really started to turn it on down the stretch for the Chiefs.
If he can consistently play like this from season to season for KC, there is little doubt that he will wind up in Canton for his induction speech at the Pro Football Hall of Fame many years into the future.
Tony Moeaki
3 of 6The second-year Chiefs tight end had big shoes to fill when he first came to Kansas City as a rookie.
Future Hall of Fame TE Tony Gonzalez was the last great player at that position that KC had, and Moeaki was drafted to make the Chiefs tight end spot relevant again.
He did just that in his first season in the league, as he had over 556 receiving yards and three touchdowns in an amazing rookie campaign in 2010.
He has the talent to become a great player in this league, and the NFL Hall of Fame might be a possibility if he turns out to be anything like the previous Tony that played tight end in Kansas City.
Brandon Flowers
4 of 6The Chiefs second-round pick from the '08 NFL draft is one of the more underrated cornerbacks in the league today.
Last year, he picked off two passes, but was only thrown at an average of five plays per game.
He has quietly developed into one of the best shutdown corners in the NFL, and gets little appreciation for it.
If he can play at this level or higher in the future, he might be enshrined in Canton someday.
Dwayne Bowe
5 of 6Dwayne Bowe used to be one of those players that you just watch and scratch your head after you see him play.
Blessed with an array of talent and physical skills, Bowe was never able to fully put it together as an NFL wide receiver until last season.
In 2010, he made his first Pro Bowl by picking up over 1,100 receiving yards and a league-leading 15 touchdowns for the year.
Could this be the first of many Pro Bowls for Bowe on the way to Canton later down the road?
Jamaal Charles
6 of 6Jamaal Charles is without a doubt the best player on the current Chiefs team.
He averaged 6.4 yards per carry during the 2010 campaign, which was good enough for second all-time for a single season.
He is already one of the best running backs in the league and is one of the most electrifying players with the ball in his hands.
Charles likely has the best chance at of any of the current Chiefs players to make the Pro Football Hall of Fame later down the road.
