MLB All-Star Game: 5 Past All-Star Teams That Could Crush These Squads

Solomon RyanJun 7, 2018

The All-Star game is one of the best ways for fans to show their support for the players they love. Of course, the fans vote in some players who donโ€™t deserve to be in, but most of the time, they get it right. Every year, the lineups are stacked. There are future Hall-of-Famers, former World Series winners, MVPs, and record holders of all types.

The roster for this year's All Stars Game includes few stand-outs. As a result, it is not hard to choose five other All Star teams that could crush the teams playing this year. The hard part is limiting the number to five. In reality, every year, fans grumble that the previous All-Star teams selected by the American and National Leagues could easily beat the current All-Stars.

Here is a list of five All-Star teams that could crush the teams playing this year.

5. 1937 American League All-Star Team

1 of 5

This team was had some all-time greats on it: Joe Dimaggio, Jimmie Foxx, Lou Gehrig and Lefty Grove were just some of the big names from the American League. Lefty Gomez was one of the best starting pitchers at the time, starting four or the last five All-Stars. The American League handled the National League 8-3 in that game.

4. 1983 American League All-Star Team

2 of 5

There is no way the National or American League this year could match up to the 1983 All-Star team. With players like George Brett, Rod Carew, Cecil Cooper, Ricky Henderson, Reggie Jackson and Carl Yastrzemski this roster could match up with any team. It was unfair the National League had to play them. Well, it wasnโ€™t much of a game; the American League won 13-3.

3. 1992 American League All-Star Team

3 of 5

They 1992 All-Star team had it all. Pitching, hitting, fielding. There wasnโ€™t a flaw. With players like Cal Ripken, Ivan Rodriguez, Roger Clemens, Ken Griffey Jr., Mark McGwire and Dennis Eckersley, it was hard to beat them. The National League tried, but in the end the American league showed their power yet again, winning 13-6.

2. 1966 National League All-Star Team

4 of 5

In a year where both teams had good All-Stars, the 1966 All-Star game was one of the best All-Star games of all-time. The National League won 2-1 in an epic 10 inning game. Some of the National League All-Stars included Hank Aaron, Sandy Koufax, Gaylord Perry and Willie Mays. Koufax could make any hitter look silly, and Iโ€™m sure that wouldnโ€™t change if he pitched today.

1. 1972 National League All-Star Team

5 of 5

Another great game. The National League won in the 10th inning because one of the all-time greatest second-baseman, Joe Morgan had a walk off hit. Some of the National League All-Stars included Hank Aaron, Johnny Bench, Lou Brock, Roberto Clemente and Willie Stargell. Finding a flaw in this team is very difficult.
