NFL: Who Else Is Responsible for DeSean Jackson's Gay Slur Fallout?
The news is quickly spreading. On Sirius XM's "All Out Show with Rude Jude and Lord Sear" a caller asked Philadelphia Eagles star WR DeSean Jackson a question, and Jackson responded with a gay slur.
In our society, this is obviously unacceptable, and Jackson will surely apologize. Enough columns will be written about Jackson and his culpability in this, but let's explore the others involved.
First, we all make an assumption that because a man can catch a football and run that he will be a good communicator when the microphone and camera catch every movement and every word.

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
While Jackson has been in the spotlight most of his life, who has been there to teach him to filter what comes out of his mouth? Who should teach that?
Let's start with his agent, Drew Rosenhaus.
We all know Rosenhaus is the super agent of super agents. Representing more than 100 NFL players, including the likes of full-time big mouths Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco, Rosenhaus has a bit of experience in media-player relations.
Why hasn't the super agent worked with his clients to teach them the things that advance their careers and the things that destroy them?
On to the NFLPA. What a great time it is when players are in the media everyday, and every word they utter is reported. Athletes are the new politicians.
And yet, Twitter is still abuzz with foolish utterances by big-time players. Maybe the NFLPA isn't responsible for the player's actions, but they sure want our sympathy without accountability.
Finally, for the same reasons and more, the NFL itself; a $9 billion empire that lets its star attractions run their mouths without anything more than the occasional fine.
A fine is a punishment. How about teaching players on the way in how to handle themselves better? Protect your investment, NFL.
Surely later today Jackson or Rosenhaus will be doing damage control. However, another player will quickly fill the void by saying something else inappropriate.
