Chad Ochocinco: Is the NFL Star's Next Adventure To Be in the UFC?

Andrew BarrJun 1, 2018

Tito Ortiz is fresh off his first victory in five years at UFC 132, a first-round submission win over Ryan Bader and rumors have been swirling about who Tito's next opponent could be.

Some of the names being kicked around have been Forrest Griffin, Rich Franklin, Dan Henderson, Chuck Liddell and Fedor Emelianenko.

None of these fighters have come forward to say that they want the fight; however, one unlikely competitor has.

According to Yahoo.com, NFL star Chad Ochocinco has taken to Twitter to call out Tito.

"@SugaRashadEvans Rashad I'm sure you know @titoortiz Just letting you know I'm looking to beat him to a pulp on national tv any day now," Ochocinco tweeted.

This is not the first time the currently locked out football player has vied for a shot at an MMA fighter.

Before calling out Tito, Chad had expressed much interest in fighting current UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

Ortiz might be a more manageable opponent, but he is still a very tall order for someone who has never even competed in mixed martial arts before.

NFL collective bargaining agreement negotiations are currently going well, so it might not be too long before Ochocinco will have to focus on football again. Until then, it looks like Chad will be looking to make his MMA debut.

UFC president Dana White has yet to comment on the possibility of Ochocinco joining the UFC.

NFL players making a successful transition into the world of MMA is not unheard of. Both Brendan Schaub and Matt Mitrione are former NFL players and are currently doing very well in the UFC's heavyweight division.
