This past week, the Eagles quarterback signed a new contract with athletic brand Nike, four years after ending the last contract due to his arrest. The most recent sponsor is just one of many in a long line of companies that have seemingly forgiven Vick of all his sins, and these companies see Vick as a new man and a good face for the brand.
While this is great for Mike Vick the person, will his newfound popularity, after losing it all, make him take it for granted again?
Vick has shown that he is mentally strong, after going through the trials and tribulations he brought on himself, and he earned his way back to the top. The hope is that this newfound success in the face of adversity will allow Vick to grow further and not stunt his growth as a player.
After all of his reconstituting, Vick should know how to handle the success this time, and his ego wonāt allow him to start mailing it in. Vick knows that he is a work in progress, and it is his willingness to grow that will allow him to accept the new fame, but not underestimate it.
If, for any reason, Vick starts to fall back into his old way of doing things by surrounding himself with the wrong people, his road to redemption will take him right back to the place that changed him in the first place.
Prison.
The Philadelphia Eagles organization has shown that it does everything in its power to help their players get better, and they do an even better job at keeping them on track.
