NFL: The 5 Biggest Injury Concerns on the Trading Block
As soon as the NFL lockout ends, there will be a flurry of activity and player movement through free agency and trades.
There are many players looking for fresh starts this season, particularly players on the trading block.
Some of these players just haven't lived up to expectations or haven't received the chances they were hoping to get.
Other guys have a history of being injured or were injured at times last season, which affected their status on their current team.
Here is a look at five players on the trade block who have some injury concerns associated with them.
Reggie Bush
1 of 5Bush has played a full season just once in his entire career and that was his rookie year, which could also be considered the best season of his five-year NFL career.
Last season, it was a broken leg that limited Bush to just eight regular season games and in the past it has been injuries to his knee and calf that have kept the 26-year-old out.
Those are very important body parts to a player that relies on being quick and agile such as Bush.
Perhaps if Bush finally returned his Heisman, then the football gods would look more favorably upon him.
Kevin Kolb
2 of 5Who knows what would have happened in Philly last season if Kevin Kolb had not gone down in Week 1 with a concussion against the Packers.
Maybe Kolb would have ended up starting all season and Michael Vick would have never received the chance to be the team's full-time starter.
I know that doesn't seem too likely, as Vick probably would have eventually received a chance anyways, but Kolb's injury definitely didn't do him any favors.
Kolb is healthy at the moment,Ā but another concussion could mean big problems for the soon-to-be-former Eagles quarterback.
Steve Smith
3 of 5Steve Smith hasn't missed a ton of games but he has been injured a lot during his career, and now that he is about to enter the 11th season of his career, that has to be a bit of a concern for any team looking to trade for the veteran receiver.
Smith broke his arm prior to last season (for the second time) and before that injury, he also had issues with his hamstring and a severe concussion.
I'm not sure Smith is worth the potential headache, given his attitude and injury history.
Vince Young
4 of 5Young has had plenty of issues during his career but for now we will just discuss his injury history, which includes injuries to his quadriceps, knee and thumb last season.
Young's ability to scramble is one of his best qualities, but it also increases his chances of being injured.Ā
Last season, Young tore the flexor tendon in his right thumb, and while I wouldn't trade for a healthy Vince Young, I definitely wouldn't trade for a somewhat injury-prone Vince Young.
Nick Barnett
5 of 5Nick Barnett could potentially be moving on from the Super Bowl champs once the lockout ends, and if he does, the team that gets him will be taking a player prone to injury.
Last season, the linebacker was put on injured reserve after suffering a wrist injury in Week 4 and Barnett was also put on IR after tearing a knee ligament in 2008.
Barnett has proven to be an impact defender during his career, but two of the last three years have raised some questions about his ability to stay healthy.
