New England Patriots: Tom Brady, Logan Mankins to Be Plaintiffs in NFL Lawsuit

Tony SantorsaMar 3, 2011

As the NFL players and owners agree to a 24-hour extension to the current CBA, the players' union prepares itself for a potential lawsuit.

Four big name NFL players have been chosen to represent the players union if there is work-stoppage in the NFL. Two of the four players are New England Patriots: Quarterback Tom Brady and Offensive Lineman Logan Mankins. The two others are Quarterbacks Peyton Manning and Drew Brees.

Brady, Brees and Manning are no question the faces of the NFL and would be expected to lead the players' union. Mankins, on the other hand, might be considered a "shocker" to many.

When you take a closer look at Mankins' situation, it makes much more sense why he would be a nice candidate to represent the players.

After half a season of holding-out for a contract extension, Mankins received word that New England would be placing their franchise tag on him.

The franchise tag is a hot topic among discussions between the league's owners and players and many players feel that it is unfair and should be elimanted.

Mankins has yet to agree to the contract tender offered by New England.
