2011 NFL Mock Draft: Dallas Cowboys Post Combine Edition
Now that the combine is over we have a more clear idea about what will happen in the draft. Some players helped their stock, while others floundered in interviews and drills.
This mock will cover the Cowboys picks in every round. It is based off of the Cowboys recent draft history and tendencies. Although it's sometimes hard to get into Jerry Jones' head.
Round 1: Prince Amukamara CB Nebraska
1 of 6
Not really a surprise here. It seems every mock draft I look at has Prince going to the Cowboys. I do have a few doubts about that though. The real wild card will be what San Francisco decides to do here. They need a QB, but I don't know if Harbaugh will take one.
The Cowboys should draft him if he is there though. Any concerns about his speed should be taken care of by the 4.43 forty he ran at the combine. The Cowboys have other holes to fill, but they can't pass on a potential shut down corner if he's there.
Round 2: Stefen Wisniewski C/G Penn State
2 of 6
The Cowboys would love to take UCLA free safety Rahim Moore here, but I don't know if he will last that long. He is the top rated safety in the draft and might even be taken in the first round.
Instead, they get one of the top rated interior linemen in the draft. He is versatile enough to play either the guard position as well as center. The Cowboys would love to plug him in at right guard to replace the rapidly declining Leonard Davis, whose play no longer matches his huge salary.
Round 3: Quinton Carter FS Oklahoma
3 of 6
Carter is a phenomenal athlete who won Big 12 first team honors. He is fast enough to keep up with receivers at the next level and is excellent in run support. I think he can beat out Alan Ball and be a day one starter for the Cowboys.
He would be a steal if the Cowboys could get him in the third round.
Round 4: Ian Williams DT Notre Dame
4 of 6
Ian Williams is an archetypal NFL defensive tackle. He is only 6'1", but is a disruptive force in the run game. He could add depth on the Cowboys' defensive line, where they figure to lose several players to free agency.
Round 5: Noel Devine RB West Virginia
5 of 6
The Cowboys are likely to part ways with Marion Barber sometime during the offseason. If they do, they will need a third running back. Noel Devine out of West Virginia could fill the hole nicely.
He is a small runner, only 5'7", but has great speed. He would make a nice complementary back and could also contribute on special teams.
Round 6: Derek Hall OT Stanford
6 of 6
Derek Hall only played tackle for one year at Stanford. He was formerly a defensive lineman, but made the transition to right tackle his senior year.
He has great quickness and physical tools, but is still very raw. He did a great job protecting Andrew Luck last year, but needs to work on technique. Even so, he has a lot of upside and could eventually work his way into the starting lineup.
