Jeremy Shockey: Is He a Good Fit for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?
Back when the Buccaneers signed tight end Kellen Winslow, there was major concern about his oft-nagging injuries, his lousy knees and his past behavioral history.

Is he a good fit for the Buccaneers?
His injury history pales in comparison to Winslow's medical charts, that's a given. Shockey will be 31 in August so he's not ancient. One of the reasons he has a tough time making it through a season is his style of play. It's basically collision central.
But you have to give the guy credit; he's a gamer, plays with an "attitude" and he wants to win. He doesn't mind trash talking and he's typically been able to back it up throughout his career.
Good news is that he's played for the New Orleans Saints so the pro-personnel department should have him covered from A to Z.
One of the areas where the Bucs would like to improve is tight end. So how would it look to Josh Freeman with both Winslow and Shockey running routes?
Given the fact that the Bucs have come up with the formula to get Winslow through a 16-game season, perhaps then Shockey is worth a serious look.
You have to like his simple declaration when he got the news that the Saints released him yesterday:
"I'll just go play hard for someone else. Whoever gets me it's going to be a steal."
And aren't these Buccaneers becoming famous for finding "steals?"
