NFL Two-A-Days: Previewing the Offseason For the Denver Broncos

Ryan FryeFeb 14, 2011

Oh yes, it's that time of year again, NFL Draft time. I am 15 years old and a "Volunteer Scout of the Atlanta Falcons." To read more about me, click here.ย I will be writing about the NFL Draft a lot until it happens in late April.

This is the beginning of a new series. I will be preview the upcoming offseason, twoย teams each day. ย Before the NFLย season started, Iย followed ESPN's Mike and Mike with the Two-A-Days series. I used the same questions, but answering them my way. I'm doing the same thing again.

5. Who will open the season behind center: Kyle Orton or Tim Tebow?

I believe Kyle Orton is a very underrated quarterback, just look at the stats. It will be interesting to see what kind of drop off he suffers after the firing of Josh McDaniels.

I believe Tebow will be the guy. The Broncos seem to be in a rebuilding mode, so they'll opt for the young quarterback. This would also enable them to trade Kyle Orton, who could be worth anywhere from a second to fourth round pick.

4. Who is the Broncos best offensive player?

I'm going to open this up a bit more than they did on Mike and Mike.

Ryan Clady, as mentioned, had a down year coming off anย injury. Knowshon Moreno is very talented, and I think he could emerge into an elite back in the future.

For now though, it has to be Brandon Lloyd. Lloyd finally had his breakoutย year, leading the Broncos in receptions and making the pro bowl. He is an excellent playmaker.

3. The first thing new defensive cordinator Deenis Allen needs to do is...

I think the better question is what doesn't he need to do.

On the bright side, they have Elvis Dumervil returning from injury, who should improve the defense that was ranked dead last in 2010.

Champ Bailey is still a very good corner as well.

To answer the question, Denver needs to go defensive heavy in the upcoming draft. That is the way to built talent, and it's something they've struggled with in recent years.

2. What should the Broncos' top priority in NFL Draft and/or Free Agency be?

The defense as a whole should be the top priority.

In the draft, I have two players: Da'Quan Bowers or Patrick Peterson.

Bowers could add a pass rush and give Dumervil some help. I think the more likely scenario is Patrick Patterson. He would be someone to replace Champ Bailey, as Bailey is getting old. For the short term, they'd make a pretty elite cornerback tandem.

1. Stock: Rising or Falling?

I will have to say falling.

If Tebow is is the quarterback, he'll go through many growing pains this upcoming season. Along with that, the defense is going to take a lot of work, and will be difficult to fix in just one offseason.

Here is a link to Mike and Mike's Denver Broncos' off-season preview. I'll preview the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals tomorrow.
